Looking for the Taino word for "gold"..Is it "caona"?

Hi

I know the Aztec word for gold was “teocuitlatl”, which means “excrement of the gods”, the Inca/Quechua word for gold was “chuqi” in the Aymara tongue, meaning “Our Lady of Peace” and the Mayan (Yucatec? Quiche?) word for it is/was “taak’in”. What was the Taino word for it? I believe Taino word for gold was “caona” although I haven’t been able to verify it.

Well, it’s not my area of expertise, but several Google Books text search results do seem to indicate that “Caona” was the word for (unalloyed) Gold.

Anacaona (from Taíno anacaona, meaning “golden flower”; from ana, meaning “flower”, and caona, meaning “gold, golden”) was a Taíno cacica (chief), sister of Bohechío, chief of Xaragua, and wife of Caonabo, chief of the nearby territory of Maguana.
