what in the world kind of keyboard are you using that ties numbers in with letter keys?
and
no, normal size, here. Check your browser’s prefernces

Ah! Thank you. For some reason fiddling around with the page options didn’t work.

rosie, my laptop has the number pad interspersed with the righthand side of my keyboard.

I think I need more coffee.

Friday! I love Fridays. My manager only works M - Th, so Friday is a chance to get caught up on everything. Two more weeks as a temp, and then I’ll be a real employee, with benefits and everything. :cool:

The local yarn stores are having a yarn shop hop, which means that 16 stores between Carmel and San Mateo are having a simultaneous sale event. And it is an event. It started yesterday, and lasts through Sunday. I really, really do not need any more yarn, but it sounds like fun! There will be prizes and sales and classes and late hours at all of the stores. All the driving doesn’t appeal to me, though. I think I’ll just go to a couple of the local stores.

Probably a laptop with embedded numeric keypad. The distribution of numbers where letters should be matches up:

I = 5
O = 6
L = 3
M = 0

That corresponds to the letters where the numeric keypad is usually embedded on a laptop keyboard.

shivers and snuggles back in the wet blanket

Wake me when its spring again.

<peers at keyboard>

I have a lil 4 and a lil 5 and ack! now I see a small 1 and 2 as well, on keys u, i, j and k respectively. Good god-tis a plot of some dastardly kind! I demand that Apple give me my money back. (what are they there for? I’ll never know). And goodness gracious! there’s a small c a 7, an 8 and a 9 on the 6, 7, 8, and 9 keys (the last 3 all have two numbers on them). I NEVER noticed them before.

OK, enough keyboard gazing. I have FINISHED my collection development policy and [sub]now have to do some cataloging work that I’m going to put off for at least an hour since I hate it so much.[/sub]

Gray, blustery and cold here today–I love it! (I do).

Liss-some babies DO “esplode” all by themselves–just wait until the projectile diarrhea starts aka the shits… I’m sure Ninjababywill do well, whatever “schedule” you get him on (the timely one or the random, no set time one). :slight_smile:

Whew! It has been insane here since about noon yesterday. Fridays are supposed to be quiet, non-busy days to catch up on long term work. Not crazy, everything-needs-to-be-done-right-now-yes-right-this-very-minute type of projects. A vendor sent me some files to review this morning and then emailed every half hour: “Are they done yet?” “How about now?” “So when do you think you’ll have them approved?” ARGH! I’d get them done a lot faster if you’d quit bugging me! One of my coworkers said it sounds like they sit around twiddling their thumbs from the time they send us the files until we send them the approvals. Shouldn’t they have something better to do?

Enough whining. We’ve gotten prequalified through a few different sources for a mortgage. I think our credit union is going to be the best option, which really isn’t a surprise. So we’re moving forward on that.

I think we’re going to the Twin Cities dopefest tomorrow, although KeithT sounds hesitant. Dunno why. Maybe I’ll go alone. I’d love to meet some of the other local dopers!

I had to go back and read the whole day, because I couldn’t for the life of me remember if I’d posted here or not yet.

No one should have to work this hard on a Friday.

Meeting with some of the troops, to tell them no kidding kids, it’s time to start playing nice in the sandbox together.

Then a lunch meeting with a stooopid person.

Now, the whole afternoon with two bosses looking at some future planning. We’re opening 4 new schools next year, so we’re re-drawing some junior high and elementary boundaries. It’s a mucho pain in El Rumpo, but we got a lot done and so have called it a day.

Oh Joy! Oh Rapture! It’s Friday and I have pumpkin ice cream!! laughs Okay, maybe it’s not -that- good, but it is the weekend, and the ice cream hasn’t been taste tested yet (it’s not Turkey Hill either, but Edy’s), so maybe I should check back in tomorrow afternoon.

I’ve been reading Michael Connelly recently - the Bosch novels. I really love his style of writing - it’s very good and keeps my interest without giving things away. I only get to read a bit each night, though! I probably should cut back on my internet usage, I guess. :smiley:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Friday, everyone! Yay! Didn’t get home till later than usual, but I’m home and enjoying din din (green beans and red-skin potatoes; still considering what to have for dessert). Slowly creeping toward the feeling better side of the spectrum.

Exact schedule baby book sounds awful. I’ve lived with my niece and nephew and godchildren when they got dragged way out of their schedules and yes, they get awfully cranky, but exact lengths of naps would never have flown with any of them. My nephew stopped taking naps early on (when he was 3, maybe?), niece took naps for a LONG time, but I’m pretty sure they varied widely in length.

Let my chime in with Puggy: we hate it when you’re on third shift too! You’re never around. May we file a formal protest with Miller?

I’m almost done reading Run by Ann Patchett. I’ve really enjoyed it, although I didn’t find it as compelling as Bel Canto. They both have kind of slow and slightly tedious middles, but I think Run’s winds up being less appealing.

0123456789: brought to you by my laptop number pad keys. I’d never actually used them before. Seems like cheating that the 789 are on the same keys as the regular 789.

You should definitely go to the Dopefest taxi. It’ll be fun! (You too, KeithT).

I love those piano-falling descriptions, gotti.

Hope Mama T is having a safe trip. We’ll expect lots of good stories.

Since all the parents seem to be gone, I guess it’s up to me:
Young lady, you get over there and do that cataloging work!!! Don’t give me that look! No dessert until you’re done! Or frolicking in the nice weather.

Off to check for my dessert, since I don’t have any homework that I’m putting off.

Send it this way, please. We did get some rain today, but not nearly enough to end this drought. One estimate I have read puts the level of Lake Lanier below the intakes in three months. Lake Lanier waters Atlanta.

There are fair-sized bushes growing in the riverbed of the Chattahoochee River. I read that if you are caught watering your lawn in Atlanta your water is cut off until you pay a fine. Why the “authorities” waited so long to start conservation measures I don’t know, but we are in bad shape.

Yikes. Sending anti-flooding vibes, rosie.
We went to the midwife’s and everything is fine. tinyninjachef is head down, and we’re hoping he stays that way for the next ten or so weeks. Mr. Lissar got to hear the heartbeat, and I got told that the “Don’t drink any alcohol! None or you’ll diiiiiieee!” is a purely North American thing, not done in Europe or England. And that my midwife thinks an occasional glass of wine is probably fine.

Hahahahahahaha! Drunken parties!

Okay, half a glass of wine in a week or so.
Anyway, it’s been a long, inactive day, we had pizza for dinner, and I think we’ll go to bed early. We’re exciting young people.

LiLi, dear, you really must tone down the rowdiness! :smiley:

Hope the flooding stays away from you, rosie.

Still pondering dessert.

Whew - TGIF!! Work was a bore, and I came home and paid bills - there’s fun! We went to Bert’s for a burger supper, then I decorated the last dog and the first cat. Two cats and 7 mugs to go, although I may not have space in the kiln for the mugs, so they may not get done in this batch.

It rained in Dahlgren, and I’d left my car windows open, so my passenger seat got soaked. However, it was bone dry here at the house, and it still is. I just checked the radar loop, and it looks like we’re going to be missed by the real rain. Again. Dammit. :frowning:

It was a money day for us, tho. In the mail, we got a refund of $100 from a medical bill - I’d had a feeling I’d overpaid, but we’ve had so many bills, I couldn’t be sure. Then we called the hospital. When **FCD ** was admitted, they told us the copay was $800. Last year, it was only $100, but for all I knew, the copays went up. But when we got our insurance statement, it said our share was $100. So the nice lady at the hospital pulled up our account, and lo and behold, we had a $700 credit. She she’s sending it back. In 6 weeks-ish. 'Cause they wouldn’t operate without a check, but it’s not that urgent to get it back to us… :rolleyes: Still, it’ll be nice to have it back.

Busy day tomorrow, flight to Miami on Sunday. No host social event at a country club on Monday night - woo and hoo! At least the exercise should be interesting for me - I may actually learn something! Can you imagine??

Tired. Need sleep. Lost pronouns. Alas…

Alas, I’m in for at least two more weeks of third shift. :frowning: I’ll survive though. Really.

Yays, boos, hugs etc. as needed. I’ve read everything but can’t remember any of it.

Tonight’s outfit is black pocket t and black jeans. I’m the man in black! Woohoo!!!

Ok, I have a very busy next couple of weeks comin’ up. Besides work, I have appointments with the dentist, regular doc and the urologist. Just the routine stuff but somehow it’s all comin’ up at the same time. Plus, Ima try to get some stuff done to da cave that needs doin’. Thus, I may not be around much for a couple weeks. Don’t panic. I’m fine. Just busy. Plus, in betwixt all that I need to find time to do things like sleep, eat, and general hygiene. Just a heads up in case I seem kinda AWOL.

OK, off to purtify for work and surf around a bit.

Later Y’all!

Hockey Night in Carolina…er Pittsburgh!

Work went OK. Got hockey on the radio. Nelly is snoring.

Mork Lucretia is a girl. Puggy is right. Orange tabby girls are rare. She hates just to hate.

LiLi, my mom didn’t schedule, and I asploded.

Where’s swampy? : extreme panic :

Great story, Plynck. I used to live a little nawth of Lynn and worked in a couple of those highrises in Downtown Boston. I commuted along Lynn Shore Drive for about 13 years, sometimes stopping at probably your bench on the way home in the evening, especially in the summer, when the tide was high or when I was upwind of the malodorous mudflats in front of the Breakers Apts. (the old red brick one across from Red Rock). It was a shock to see the top floor of that building in total flames late one afternoon. It’s a great place to watch all the big ships as they leave the Port of Boston and make the turn in the channel right straight out off Red Rock. I used to love to buy a big box of fried clams at Christie’s at the Nahant traffic circle and down them on a bench at Red Rock. $14 last time I did that about 8 years ago. You probably don’t remember Sam’s (Lena’s) sub sandwich shop on Lewis Street. Nothing like them. I once met the upstairs resident of that shop who had to move out 'cuz of the onion odor and tears. My 90-year-old uncle, who used to work at the GE lives in the next town to the nawth, on Humphrey Street. His late wife was an insurance agent in Downtown Lynn for many years before she died of breast cancer. I have an 81-YO brother in Revere. I had a niece who lived in one of those 3-deckers next to Christie’s when she was first married. I haven’t been up nawth (of Raleigh) in almost 8 years and couldn’t make my 50th H.S. reunion due to med problems last month. Please keep us posted from time to time on the goings-on at Red Rock. Oh, I’ve been to the museum at Dachau. That brings tears to my gentile eyes, too.

BTW, I guess I’ve been in my cave too long. What does MMP stand for? Did I just do one?

Monday Morning Post - there’s a new one each week. And yes, you did.
There are no rules - most of the stuff in the MMP threads are SO mundane they don’t even rate a thread of their own. We have a cast of regulars and a plethora of guest [del]stars[/del] dopers popping in and out at all hours.

Ooh! There was a couple of inches of snow this morning, though it rained all day and most of it’s gone, but it’s supposed to turn to snow again overnight and all day tomorrow! Several inches expected. I don’t plan on going anywhere, but if I were, it’s a good thing I’ve now got rather scary-looking studded snow tires. They changed out my antifreeze, among other things as well; apparently the mix in my car was totally and completely inadequate for the climate. Now it’s good to -35F. I sure as hell hope I don’t end up testing that!

I have to go back to the store on Sunday and do a bit more cleaning that I simply didn’t have time or energy to do today. It shouldn’t take long, and I’ll have a bit of help. Neither of us wanted to do it tomorrow because he says he’ll be far too hung over, and I want to have a day where I don’t go anywhere unless I want to.

I’m assuming all is well with MT but I’m not going to try bugging her tonight, after the day she apparently had.
