A bleary eyed MMP

I figured I’d probably be the first one up today

The new job I’ve been wittering on about for months finally starts today, which means getting up at least an hour earlier than I’m used to, as it’s not only further away than the cleanin’ job, I was also asked to be there half an hour earlier. The street lights were still on when I got out of bed…

I got all organised and prepped my packed lunch yesterday; just need to caffienate (check), purtify (imminent) and go, in theory.

It looks like the college stoodints won’t actually be there today- I think they start on Wednesday (the uni level ones don’t start til next week- and returning uni level stoodints like me not for another two weeks), so hopefully today I should only have to worry about the other staff, not the kids, and I get the first two weeks not having to worry about my own course either. Except the project I’ve been trying to start over summer, which is actually on this site anyway.

Happy Monday!

Good luck with the job Nut!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Good luck laboring on Labor Day, Nut!

Poor Nut! That adulting stuff can be, um, challenging? I always felt it was terribly unkind of my parents not to make me a wealthy heiress. Working for a wage is so beneath me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good morning!!

We lost cable (TV & intrarwebz) for a couple of hours last night, and when it came back, our wireless wasn’t working. I have been futzing with it this morning, about to do a factory reset, when I noticed the silly little statement about hitting the Wireless On/Off button. :smack: Anyway, it’s all good now. I hope.

Roxy spent the night last night with her other grandparents, but she’ll be back here around lunch time. I’m not sure what I’ll do today - I should mow the ditches. It’s like I always say - Indecision is the key to flexibility!

Happy Moanday!!

Could be worse: I got a name that Spanish people tend to assume means money but, as Mom likes to huff, “it’s not like a coat of arms keeps you dry in the shower”. Money, not really.

Nine working days left here. Now if the dude who’s on vacation in what’s supposed to be the next place can come back and kindly confirm, it would be nice :stuck_out_tongue: Hotels in that area are hard to catch, I swear the rooms run.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. this afternoon. We shall see. Not much on the agenda today. OYKW is off irk and still abed as I post. If TWPTB are tellin’ the truth, we may have quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. There’s plenty of sammich makin’ stuff, chips, etc so any need to feed will be via forage.

Nuts good luck with the new gig! This is the tiny plant thing, right?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Labor Day to all who celebrate today!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

My job is in a cafe, and that’s located in the public library, so I’m off for today as the library is closed for Labor Day. Yay. Now I am going to take the dog to the doggie park. I have to drive to get there, but no walking. Yay again.

Happy Labor Day to those who aren’t working on account of it being Labor Day, and may you survive it well to those who get to be on duty during Labor Day.

Turns out leftover Perkins’ Potato Pancake batter is as good as freshly made batter. **FCD **had 2 happy breakfasts in a row!!

I should probably shower and dress now, since it’s after 9 and all.

Morning all. Slept until 8am to celebrate (un)Labor Day (when one is retired, every day is (un)Labor Day. Do need to clean house, this time I really mean it…

Nut, hope the new job works out well, early rising or no.

Mooooommm, I’ve found getting dressed is overrated…but considering you have three other adults, an infant, and several pets, I guess it’s reasonable in your case…

To everyone else, have a good week y’all.

Bleah. Gotta go to Hades Annex today. Plus side: I get the car. Minus side (other than Hades Annex itself): DH does have the day off, but is not getting paid for it.

I’ve discovered that the airport code for Helsinki is HEL.

Anybody know if them Finnish used to worship the Norse gods or had a completely different bunch? Cos damn that’s one scary code, if the first…

Today is Labor Day and the only laboring I’m doing is kinda sorta house cleaning. Tis sunny and nice and the windows are open. Ursala Kitteh is lounging on her perch in front of the window.

Apparently 6:30 is now time to wake up, because I have Pavlov’s puppy.

The night before the little girls returned to school, I heard a strange sound in the back yard. Investigated. Found puppy. (I know the rules. Pictures will happen as soon as I remember how to do that from my phone.) Neighborhood investigation revealed that puppy was apparently the only survivor of a dumped mama and litter of four. So… His name is Cookie, AKA Cookie Monster. He’s about 3.5 months old now, red nosed bulldog with green eyes, already 16 pounds (per his impromptu vet visit Saturday morning, because he bit a drop cord. Sigh.) Very sweet, very smart, all puppy.

But anyway, I get up at 6:30 on school days to get the kids ready. And now I get up at 6:30 every day, because that’s when Cookie takes his morning constitutional.

So the menagerie is now Pandora (great Pyrenees/St. Bernard mix,) Oreo (2-3 yo bulldog/hound - Tony brought him home after he’d been found eating from a friend’s garbage can,) Cookie Monster, and Bot & Dot, year-old rescue kitties from another dumped mama and litter. And we can’t afford any more free critters!

Anyway, off to prepare for whatever Dorian brings, including stocking up on doggy Valium, because Pandora is terrified of storms.

Best of luck with the new paycheck, Nuts, and happy Labor Day to all!

Enjoy your new job nut!

Moooooom, what, exactly, are Perkins pancakes?

Congrats on the new addition to your family peaches! Awaiting pics.

Today is my truly lazy day. Aside from the usual chores of day to day living, I’m not doing much of anything.

Welcome back Peaches.

Blurf. We got a feeder band and nice rain from Dorian. What an agonizing wait for that storm to make his turn. I know lots of peeps up that way who are in the projected path. Even if the eye stays offshore, which is the hope, there will still be wind and rain and probably lots of it.

Blurf

Good luck with the new job, Nuts, and with getting up early!

I was up early and in work long before anyone else today, but that’s on account of travelling from Swampy’s past to his future over the weekend. We left Denver on Saturday and arrived in London on Sunday so it was early evening before we reached home.

Naturally I am all over the place today, couldn’t sleep more than about an hour at a time last night and despite the fact I’ve been busy all day, I could quite cheerfully settle down for a snooze just now. Oh well, home and then the gym…

Hope everyone in Dorian’s path is safe and keeping all extremities dry!

Red - lower right photo on this page. Spousal unit loves their potato pancakes and I have a cookbook that has recipes for restaurant favorites - including this one. The closest Perkins to us is 121 miles away, so not convenient for breakfast. There used to be 2 in this county, but both are long gone, alas… I’ll PM the recipe to anyone who wants it, but I’m reluctant to post it, since it’s probably a copyright issue. Oh, and I eat them with sour cream instead of applesauce.

On to bigger news - I managed to mow both ditches and the hill without being stung!!! WOOHOO!! But I did fall and skin my left knee, dammit. Still, it beats yellow jacket attacks. I’m now showered and dressed and thinking about cutting up the 2 cantaloupes I bought on Firday. After I rest, of course.

& there was one down the block from where we were last night. Yeay!
Good luck on the [del]nutjob[/del] job Nut!

I is off today, with pay for a change (first {or maybe second} time in a dozen years to celebrate the worstest holiday of them all fore it means skool starting & fall is acomin’. For the record, Autumn is no better than the seventh or eighth best season (out of four!).

I did not notice an audibly sleeping elderly male but it was arainin’ & apourin’. All of the descending leaves (see: stoopit season) gravitated towards the one missing piece of gutter guard causing rain to spill over the (clogged) gutter so I got changed into a bathing suit & beach sandals & went onto the deck to unclog it. I was even smart enough to leave a towel inside the door before I went out. Took longer to get changed than to fix the issue, but rainwater is c-c-cold!
Mooommm, mebbe you could get out of those trips to Ballermore for a while by sending Double-Mom away. Iffn you can pay for it with pocket change, then call up Guinness as you’ve got the world’s largest pockets.
Psst: Doggio that’s Guinness, not Guinness. :o

Got a question for fellow Mumpers.

Do any of you have a Kindle book reader? Is it worth the money? Easy to use?

I’ve always loved books in hand, but I’ve seen some stuff that’s only available electronically, and I really want to read these stories.

What are the pros and cons of a Kindle?
