My mother raised five kids. Four boys and a girl. She says that the only she raised five kids, especially four boys, to adulthood is because we lived three blocks from the hospital and the emergency room. It was nuttin’ for one to five of us to have various injuries pretty much constantly. So, HRH will survive Dotty.
I’m ready for work. Don’t have to go for quite a while but I purtified and got dressed anyways. Dark blue pocket t and blue jeans tonight. Supper was leftovers from yesterday’s lunch of pork tenderloin, gravy, sweet N.O.T. casserole, rice, and spareguts. I boiled some chicken boobs and thighs a little earlier and am lettin’ 'em cool down. Tomorrow the broth and chicken pieces shall turn into chicken ‘n dumplin’s cause I’m cravin’ it. I bought some fresh carrots and broccoli, so they’ll be the veggies.
Think I’ll go stare at some teevee and have me some ice cream.
Good Lord; I’m surprised most of you survived your childhood years.
I bought some random Halloween stuff today. White skirt, blue hairdye, lacey gloves. I’ve decided to be the Corpse Bride. I’ve been trying to find a white corset, but apparently this is a rare item. All the places that sell corsets only sell the black leather kind.
Sigh. Everyone who prays or can send good vibes, please do so. My BIL and SIL are possibly splitting up again. He’s here in Toronto, staying with some friends. We don’t have a phone number or anything, so I can’t pester him to come here instead. She’s apparently bailed out of the marriage, and her family (whom I strongly dislike) are backing her up. We’re deeply worried about BIL and Nephew. We’re afraid that he’ll lose contact with his son. We’re just worried. BIL has had a rough fifteen or so years, has poor self-esteem, and… well, we’re worried.
I feel like I have Teh Sick. I also came home to find that Nelly spent the day in my dirty sock hamper, and Lucretia threw up 1.5 times her own body weight. When I was a kid, I poked myself in the eye with a pipe(maybe that’s why my eyes have different prescriptions). I hit my head a few times, and it never a FGRGDFGJMHJ whoop woop woop fected me in the slightest.
LiLI, I’ll keep BIL in my prayers.
MamaTigs, I think the toilet fascination is this: Dog:“She’s going inside!” Cat:“She’s going without sand!” :dubious:
taxi, congrats! I read it as rectal conversion. I think I spend too much time around swampbeer.
Sorry to hear about that, LiLi. I clearly remember your fondness for the SIL’s family not. The whole family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Yes, I’d say the eyelid wins the prize, with various stabbings and bloody wounds coming in next. Owwwwww. Our joke standard for injuries at work is bleeding from the eyes or ears. (Fortunately the worst we get is paper cuts…)
Had an 1 1/2 hour nap, so now I’m quite awake, of course. I can stay up maybe 1/2 an hour and still get as much sleep as I really need to…
Hope all the sickies are recovering well. Off to steam the friendly neighborhood sinuses.
Calling your own mother a brat, snowbunny? Well, you should know, since it runs in the family.
Prayers for BIL, LiLi.
Try a bridal shop, Haze, for a white corset. They usually have all kinds of fancy underpinnings, including corsets.
We went out for dinner at a new Italian place that opened up nearby recently. Service was excellent, prices were reasonable, food was tasty, and portions were ENORMOUS. I ordered the lasagna, and not only was the portion I received a full 2 inches thick – I counted seven layers in it – but was literally, and I do mean literally, 6 inches square! So I ate about 1/4 of it, and have saved the rest for lunches for the rest of the week. Seriously, I can get three more good meal portions out of it even without the ginormous side salad that came with it. Which was practically a meal in itself.
Today has been lots of fun around the Tiger Den. Some creature decided to take up residence under the back yard shed – hopefully just a cat, hiding from the Idiots, but they proceeded to spend every second they were outside trying to crawl under the shed. There’s only about 4-6 inches of clearance, so they didn’t make it, until one of them (probably Rusty) decided to try to dig his way under. There’s now a nice hole started right next to the shed door. :smack: This evening whatever it was appeared to have left, but I’m still going to have to go fill in the hole tomorrow, unless Papa Tigs took pity on me and did it earlier. At least Rusty doesn’t try to dig his way out of the yard like he used to in New Orleans – there were various old bricks scattered around in the flowerbeds there, and they all ended up being used to block the Idiot’s various attempted escape tunnels. Stoopid dog.
Time to go to bed. Tomorrow is my doctor’s appointment, finally. So hopefully I will be considerably less grumpy by tomorrow evening. It’s amazing how grumpy and depressing chronic pain can be, isn’t it? Stoopid doctor.
Hey, I have a scar above my eyebrow too (the left one, in case you’re interested), but I got it when I was already an adult. I was horse riding in the sand dunes alongside the Pyramids of Giza (sounds exotic, huh?), when my horse decided to take a sharp left turn down the dune without telling me. I slipped off to the right, yanking on the reins as I went, which resulted in horse and I bumping heads. Trust me when I say, horses generally have harder heads than humans. The end result was me on all fours in the sand, bleeding profusely from a small cut over my eyebrow!
Well, HRH is grumpin’ so I am off to try to spackle some rice cereal with cinnamon into her! Later folks!
I don’t have a scar over my eyebrow, but I am responsible for one. Some of you may remember the beer can throwing incident with That Guy from a few months ago. He still has a scar above his right eyebrow. It affords me much amusement.
Haze, I’m so glad you’re here. You often say the things that I think about but am too chicken to write. I’m not too chicken however, to agree. So yeah, how did the lot of you survive your childhoods? FCM, oooh. . . I got the pun. . .I just forgot the thread was about puns. Those two things didn’t connect for me. :smack: Thanks for the explanation.
I’ve been watching a movie on DVD from the library by Hayao Miyazaki called Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, that I’m enjoying quite a bit. I’ve been a fan of Hayao Miyazaki ever since I picked up Spirited Away, which is incredibly spectacular, from the library a while ago. Since then, I’ve seen Howl’s Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro. I’ve enjoyed all of them, but Spirited Away is definitely in a class of its own.
~waving~ to Dotty!! Sorry, Dotty, no song again tonight. I’ve lost my voice and I can’t even croak out hi much less a tune, so the best I can do tonight is ~wave~
::Group grope hug to all the sickies:: ::cough, cough:: ::hack, hack:: Our numbers seem to be growing daily. I hope everyone is feeling better soon.
Take care everyone! And good night!
(And good morning to Lunch of course)
**Haze **and **GT **-- you must, within the time limit of the next 5 days, apply a screwdriver to your forehead (or otherwise acquire over-eyebrow scars); you risk your club membership if you do not comply with these instructions
**Roo **-- with everybody groping each other, no wonder we’re all getting Teh Sick in droves! And the fact I’m not sick means you are not groping me properly at all!!!
Li-li – good thoughts coming your BIL’s way from here.
**Tigs **-- congats on getting re-drugged
**SCL **-- I’d say your eyelid would win, but for the technicality of it being located below your eyebrow!
I didn’t do too badly surviving my childhood, the trouble really started when I was old enough to ride motorbikes! Since then, I’ve managed to break a lot of bones and done so much damage to my knees that I’ve had both of them bionicised! Then there was the incident of the rugby match and my elbow…
I’m bored of Teh Sick - does someone else want it now? I didn’t make it to work today and am instead spending the day on the sofa. Thank Og for laptops, that’s what I say.
I’ve been coughing a lot so it’s lucky that I bought ice cream at the weekend. I think it might become very necessary this afternoon.
An inquisition carried out by MAs? I have an MA. Do I qualify? Are you the guilty party, bbs2k? Fess up, or I’ll…I’ll keep going with the inane questions…
Sorry you’re having to stay home, BooFae. Hope you can exorcise the sick today. What did we do before laptops?
I take it this means my chicken pox scar doesn’t count? It’s above my eyebrow; I looked! ::wanders off to look for screwdriver::
I’m awake. Sinuses hurt, but the rest of me seems to be doing OK, which is refreshing.
I should probably take a look at some Miyazaki movies…
Well, I guess I should feign interest in getting ready for work. Long day ahead, I’m afraid.
I’m not sorry about staying at home today, I’m quite enjoying it! I must admit it would be good to not feel so icky, but in a way I’d like to keep Teh Sick for another couple of days - I am feeling a bit narky about the fact that I seem to the be only one in our section who makes any effort to come to work when I’m not feeling 100% so in a way, I’d like to stay at home a few more days just to prove a point. Besides, I need to be fit for the weekend 'cos I’m off to London with my doting parent.
We’re going to see the “First Emporer” exhibition at the British Museum, it’s an exhibition of artefacts from China, including some of the terracotta warriors. Mum’s really excited about it, she says it’s the only way she’d ever get to see them because she won’t go to China. The reason? She doesn’t like Chinese food! She has never (to my knowledge) tried Chinese food, but she doesn’t like it. Hmmm…it must be a generation thing!
You, sir, blaspheme. Or something. Pumpkin is one of the bestest pies ever. Although apple is good too. Can we settle on apple crisp? I’m really not a great crust-maker.
