Laura is going to make a mess. There is going to be a lot of storm surge, which is unbelievably destructive, and high winds unusually far inland. I live in SE La. and am glad this one missed me. Marco turned out to not be a threat to anything except people’s nerves.
The Lake Charles weather office left their radar on.

My high school graduation ceremony was in New Orleans; I was down there for Juan’s loop-de-loop.
Asteroids in that size range hit the Earth multiple times a year. A very, very minor deal if you aren’t a meteorite scientist or collector. (There are at least two new falls on the ground right now with stones being recovered, one in Brazil and one in Morocco. Both probably came from an original object around the size of this.)
