Lord of the Rings Mafia

Mmmmm, hash.

Dangit, I’m busy today, but I thought I’d just pop in to see the lynch reveal. And now you mean I have to wait a few more hours? But I want to see death now!

<snipped>

and the problem i have with this is that if nat (as scum) knows that astral is not scum why stick your neck out with a fake claim? shit let him swing and keep your head down. especially, knowing that number two, ed, will most likely get heat the following Day.

back in a sec with some additional thoughts.

Especially since, as I mentioned previously, scum didin’t follow up with a night kill of Astral. It might have made sense for scum to take that risk if they killed the person they’ve confirmed as town, so that they could lend a (contrived) data point to support their plan.

In this case, it seems like a last ditch effort to save one of their own.

This would be a good time for a vig to act.

If, of course, we have a vig.

and, of course, if the vig is not me.

Ha, I’m not dead yet!

THIS.**

There are times in Mafia, when I want to say something, and words utterly fail me. It would seem that I have at least two obstacles to playing Mafia as well as some of the better players. My diction [Not Vocabulary] could use a tweak.

Then again, my diction perhaps says too much for my thought processes. “Fixing” one would sacrifice the other. I honestly don’t think you guys would want me to be a regular player.

I can’t agree with your conclusion. If they had nightkilled me, we’d be asking why they didn’t nightkill the CLAIMED INVESTIGATOR. Leaving us both alive (and killing a different power role) makes far more sense; it leaves things in doubt, and Natlaw could have potentially been more convincing. If Natlaw stays alive, and they kill me, revealing my town identity, everyone would be saying "Well, you were right about Astral, but why weren’t you killed instead?

I definitely see where that’s coming from. It’s baffling that Natlaw, as scum, would stick his head out that far unless it was a high priority to protect Astral. But I just shake the feeling that it went down some other way. Consider:

After Pleonast, scum doesn’t really have any “certain” high-value townie targets. So they decide on a gambit: protect someone in danger of lynch (doesn’t matter who, really) with a false detective claim. With luck, the town detective will counter-claim, netting them a new target. If not, they might still gain townie cred that could see them through to the end of the game while still netting a probable townie lynch anyway. Their risk is losing one of their own when town sees through the ruse and lynches the false detective.

Which has happened. But what has scum gained? A townie lynch, an outed detective, and a player who everyone now mistrusts. Three townies, one a power role, for the price of 1 scum. And townies are decidedly low on the power roles right about now, while scum still have all of theirs. I can’t say this is a bad play on their part.

Oops. Insert a “can’t” in my second sentence where ever you think it best. Nuts.

I even previewed.

Or third sentence, even. Your choice. Oy.

OK, give me a few minutes. I’ll write it up in a sec.

What, you need to double-check the vote count to be sure you’re not miscounting?

I don’t die easily :stuck_out_tongue:

**“We’d be fools to not kill Natlaw……something about him does not seem right,” said nearly every individual in the early Morning.

They had little choice but to kill Natlaw. And because of this, little else remained to be said.

They approached Natlaw and rose their weapons to strike him down.

Suddenly a voice spoke, clearly from Natlaw, and it was low and melodious, its very sound an enchantment. Those who listened unwearily to that voice could seldom report the words that they had heard; and if they did, they wondered, for little power remained in them.

After his words, he looked at them, with a faint hope in his dark eyes.

“You missed your chance,” laughed one person, “You should have been the king’s jester and earned your bread! Your words will not work on us!”

He was struck down. For a moment, Natlaw looked to the West as if something would come to rescue him. But nothing did.

Natlaw is now dead.

Natlaw was Sauruman, a member of the Servants of Darkness. He was in possession of a Palantir, which enabled him to watch other individuals during the Night.

It is now Night. Night Four ends at Noon Eastern on Saturday, September 11.**

fuck yessiree. bobby.

and i just have to add. this was one of those rare Days where the lynch was pretty much a given but everyone kept hitting at the stone. a couple more like this and town really does have a chance. can’t believe that the scum gave up their dick like that.

and on another more serious note. bye coca cola man. you done good, my friend.

To be clear, “watch” has the normal Mafia-game meaning?

Go go Sauron! And your Minions too!
