They could cast 4-foot-tall actors in some of the key roles, they could use giant puppets, as in “The Lion King”, or they could – gasp – ask audiences to use a little imagination.
The best hope for a stage version is to go for a very stylized interpretation, since it could never hope to duplicate the film effects.
I saw a production of Wagner’s “Ring” years ago in which some of the characters were gigantic. The result was far from realistic, but still effective.
