At least one of them is a sociopath, if not both. Sociopaths don’t feel remorse.
They may know how to fake it. They watch how other people react to situations, and then imitate them. So you may see remorse from them on the witness stand, but I wouldn’t bet on it being real.
One of them seems likely to turn on the other pretty soon. If only one is the psychopath, and the other a pathetic follower - the psycho is more likely to flip.
I’m still trying to get caught up on this case; I was barely aware of it until a few weeks ago.
ABC devoted a 20/20 episode to the case last week; I just watched it on Hulu. Although it’s an 80 minute episode, it felt rushed, as if there was too much information to fit into that timeslot.
NBC’s Keith Morrison has a podcast about the case, “Mommy Doomsday,” which goes into more detail. There are five episodes (I don’t know if there will be more than that).
And I find it awfully convenient that her brother, who killed her husband, died of “natural causes”. He was also one of the last people to see the kids alive. I’d be digging him up, pronto.
Not sure how I missed this but Lori Vallow was declared unfit for trial back in May:
Today there was a release of law enforcement emails related to the case (note that this is a transcript of a 3 minute live video report Mr. Lum did; linked below also):
5 life terms. Not really enough, but nothing will be enough. What a piece of garbage. Addressing the judge at the sentencing she said her children came back from heaven to tell her she wasn’t guilty and they love her. Human filth.
ETA: CNN announced 5 life sentences. Details in other reports don’t state a number yet.
