That’s right, for the first time in my life, I’m going to see a live production of The Rocky Horror Show. A group of UCSC students are putting it on, and I’m friends with Magenta. Then the next week, a friend of mine at UCR is the stage manager of Rocky there. I’m going to fly down and see that closing weekend.

I need to find a french maid outfit and a freaky curly red wig quick and cheap. I also need to give the person I’m going with a crash course, as she’s never even seen it on tape. (!)

And now, the reason this is in the Café Society-
I really want to find the VH1 25th Anniversary Show. It was a tribute show with a bunch of celebrities. I remember Eric McCormick performed (I think) Sweet Transvestite. Rashida Jones from Boston Public also performed. One woman sang all the parts of Rose Tint My World, and I remember someone doing a damn good job of Planet, Schmanet, Janet. At the end, Richard O’Brien, Patricia Quinn, and Little Nell came on stage and did the Time Warp. If anyone knows where to download any audio or video of the show, I’d be grateful. (Obviously, please limit suggestions to non-p2p sources.)

I did a production of this last year, and had never seen any version of it (I went out and rented the movie as soon as I got the gig, of course).

It’s a lot of fun, especially if the actors are good at playing off of the crowd. I was amazed at how many things get shouted out during the performance.

I’m sure you’ll have a blast though. Can’t help you with that specific recording, however.
