LOSS! LOSS! My pub is closing!

The bar in which I worked and drank for six years is closing, we’re not trendy, we’re in the wrong part of town… God dam! its just not fair.

Its been coming a while but as always when a family member is ill, the first stage is denial. Trade has been falling these 2 years, but we had hope we thought the old girl might battle on, show some of that old fight but sadly no the Tavern is in her final stages, she has the death rattle of the truely lost.

The brewery hasn’t helped, beer prices up, rent up, then just to put the boot in they fitted meters to our lines so we couldnt even sneek a barrel or two in on the cheap. May they rot in hell!

dispite a valient effort by the regulars to keep the place going on our own somewhat drunken backs the battle is is lost. However the old girl is going out as best she can with a drink the Tav dry night, the bar may be dry our eyes on the other hand, well…

So next time you toast the pub you love best, rember those who have fallen by the wayside, never shall they hear the magical sound of laughter and braking bar stools, never will they stink of smoke and vomit, but they can live in our memories.

THE TAVERN!

I am so sorry for you.
When my favorite used bookstore closed down I was bereft for at least a year and it took me nearly 6 years to find another that I was almost at home in as that one ( the new place doesn’t have a cat and does not have a functioning toilet there.)
Drink a beer and savor your memories whilst you can, my friend.

Stage a sit-in. Nothin’ like a good protest rally to get the onlookers in the mood for a brewski.

Thanks for the sympathy, now a cat in a bookstore thats cool! I’ve been to the tavern tonight feeding on the atmosphere whilst I still can

I’ve been sitting in for six years, I’m all protested out. mind a sort of tunnel/grotto dug under the pub to live in is somewhat appealing! I shall be like a troll!

Good luck Corporal_Nobbs,

Here’s toall the lost Pubs…Taverns…Bars…and similar HideAways, that we have loved, enjoyed and celibrated in and are gone…some long gone…

deapest regards,

tsfr

toall= to all…

sorry,

tsfr

Thanks again, and yes i’m getting drunk and being sad, but life continues!

I feel your pain. I went down to “my bar” two months ago and found a closed sign on it. There are several others where they know me, but I liked this one. :frowning:

Every time a pup closes down God kills a puppy!

Why won’t the brewers think of the puppies!!!

And the habitual bar frequenters like me.

Sad news mate

Mr2U and I met at a place called Odells (some of you locals may remember it - it was at Hicks and 12. There’s a used car lot there now where it used to be. It was a dive biker bar, but it was OUR bar. We still have very close friends who we made there - bartenders we keep in touch with (one of them is our next door neighbor now!) - my living room is filled with memorabilia from the place when it was closed. We even have the martini glass neon that hung in the front window - it has pride of place on our wall. I remember that last day like it was yesterday. It was only open to the “regulars”. There were maybe ten of us plus all the bartenders. Tony (owner) was behind the bar and we got all we could drink on him. We played game after game after game of three ball - the ghostriders came in and took the coolers and the bar stools (they purchased them for their clubhouse), and we all grafitied up the walls and played “This is the end” over and over and over on the jukebox. My husband cried. It took us a long tme to find a replacement dive.

I’m sorry, Corporal_Nobbs - I hope things look up for you soon.

My deepest sympathies, I feel your pain as I’ve gone through it TWICE!!!

Won’t somebody please think of the drinkers
