It especially irks me because this problem is relatively easy to fix: Have the CGI script acknowlege the post before attempting to update the database. If the database is overloaded, put in a delay and try it again! Same with the forum list and forum contents loading code. Presumably you’re running a CGI which queries the database and returns the result. Don’t issue an error and choke, just delay and retry.
