Lost - coming to the UK

The first series of Lost is coming to the UK (Channel four) next week and I’ve heard great things about it. I believe it’s taken the US by storm. Is this right?

Also, who makes it? It sounds like something HBO would do, but I don’t think it is.

It’s not by HBO, but is just a regular network show - ABC.
And yes, it’s taken the US by storm. It’s a great show. Lots of fun.

One thing - pay close attention when watching. This is not a show you can do while surfing the net or folding laundry or playing with the dog or even eating. There are little… what can I call them? Things, tidbits, or maybe clues, everywhere, in nearly every scene that pop up in later episodes. Listen carefully to things the characters say. If someone mentions a number, remember it, no matter how insignificant it seems.
There are lots of, “Holy crap, I didn’t see that coming!” moments.

Once you start watching it, look up some of the episode threads we had here. There’s a rabid band of fans right here on the Dope.
Have fun getting Lost.

Aye… from descriptions you’d think that HBO made it, but it was ABC. It seems that once a network goes into the dumpster, they find they have nothing left to lose, and try something original and different. ABC did it with “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” (you lot have that show yet?).

I’d recommend not reading any spoiler sites and enjoy the story. You’ll be hooked after the first episode. I found it dragged just a bit around the early middle of the season, but there were fireworks galore toward the end.

Thanks.

No, I’m not going to watch or read any spoilers.

Yes, we have the Housewives here; the first series has been and gone. I liked it, but like you said of Lost, it dragged a lot towards the end, and that’s when I started to lose interest. I think it could have been much snappier if they had reduced the number of episodes and filled the remaining episodes up with the storylines. Maybe that’s how ABC do things.

Oh, and as for having to watch everything that is going on, and listening to what is being said, I’ll try my best. Although that’s why I didn’t watch 24; it seemed very demanding like that, and sometimes I get distracted.

Still, though, I love Oz and the Sopranos, and they require much attention too.
