Lost my charter member title

Lets see. I should be and I was, then I wasn’t.

Nope, not fixed.

Lost mine too… sniff sniff.

double checking…

If you were one then let your subscription lapse then resubscribed by paying more money to the C.R. you think they’d give you the satisfaction of still being one of those Charter Members.

What? I was. I paid money to them to support a message board in a time when they didn’t know if it would work or flop. I helped. And I’m now only a member.

In reality I don’t really care, just came upon the thread and thought it’d be amusing to rant.

I posted this in the sticky about current status of the Board:

Just wanted folks to know Frank Zappa anticipated our situation 40 years ago!

DAMMIT!

I even GROVELED when I had no way to pay and kindly Dopers kept me Chartered. I must have just lost it because I remember noticing that I did have it quite recently - probably this week.

WaH! :frowning:

Just curious

ETA Weird, I hardly post at all.

What Qwisp said.

How in the world does this matter to anybody?

Jerry’s working on it, according to the sticky.

Q

Err, what? My point (too obscurely made, apparently) was that looking at a post count and comparing it with “join” date doesn’t indicate – or prevent – an assumption of charter membership.

What did you mean?

What do you mean, what did I mean?

About what - the sticky?

There’s a message from SkipMagic on page 1 telling us that Jerry’s working on that problem, among others. (I didn’t see it, or I wouldn’t have posted what I did about being patient).

If ** that** isn’t what you meant, then I will just say that anyone with a post count of 22 thousand or even higher may have been a charter member **if they chose to pay for the privilege. If not, then at the very least it means they have been around long enough to be considered “ex-officio” charter, if it’s a matter of respect, and to me, it ** is.

And that means that I was unclear, for which I apologize.

As is my way lately, I try not to take things too seriously and was only trying to relieve some of the angst, again, not having seen Skip’s original post about Jerry’s being aware.

Sorry

Quasi

Oh, dear.

I think Qwisp was being subtle (join date: Mar 1999, post count 865) and I was trying to be funny (join date: Mar 2003, post count 220 as of this post) in response to the suggestion that a high post count might indicate Charter Membership.

Nothing else was intended. (I read Jerry’s post and (while I admit that I’m glad to still have it) agree that Charter Membership status is pretty low on the list of Critical Issues.)

I didn’t take offense, quilter, really!

Being a bit spacy (unclear, leaving things out) is kinda the way I am, and I often don’t see it myself till someone points it out!

Thanks for being concerned, but really, I wasn’t offended in the least.

Checkity check check…

Becasue those of us who are actually Charter Members but now listed as just Member or Guest will not be able to re-subscribe at the half-off price. Another poster alerted me to this - when I look at my re-subcribe info, the cost is listed as $14.95.

Tankitty tank tank

Now I’m worried about mine…

Yeah, that. I’d much rather re-sub at a lower rate of a charter member, and it would anger me if a board screw-up forced me to pay double.

I checked too and well, crap. This isn’t just a glitch then in the titles.

I do hope Jerry gets it fixed by April or May or whenever my subscription is up.
