Lost Returns! Thursday, Jan 31 at 9pm!

It’s official; Lost season 4 starts on Thursday, January 31 at 9 pm.

And there is a new, longer trailer.

Let’s just say that things look bad for our heroes. Really bad. Remember that good thing we saw one time? It didn’t look anything like this.

Hooray, my birthday present for next year!

Someone has reported problems with that link. Try this one.

I feel like such a goon. I am totally…TOTALLY excited about this. Almost as exciting as baseball season starting.

Weeeee! I can’t wait!

Somehow it figures… LOST comes back on Thursday nights. I’m going to be in school on Thursday nights this coming semester. Oh well, time to fire up the VCR or else watch it online.

If I’m late for the LOST threads, you all know why.

So if I was to go sit in front of the TV now . . . that would be too soon?

My great enthusiasm for the return of this show is tempered by the fact that the writers strike is going to return the show to it’s show eight or so episodes and then leave you hanging until whenever season two mess.

Hooray. :frowning:

I knew some of them were left on The Island.

Not sure when the next “Survivor” starts, but that could be a nice one-two punch if there is some overlap.

Well, the promo is sure good to get the heart going, but like most promos for lost, I feel … disapointment will be in my future.

Thursday nights - opposite of CSI and Supernatural. (while I can see them ignoring Supernatural, CSI is still leading Thursday nites, right?) Or are they counting on being the only ‘new’ show on Thursday for 8 weeks?

The writers strike does not help this in the least.

So when are we gonna start taking bets about the nature of the season premier?

Each season has opened with a radically different focus on a new faction of the island … Season 1: The Losties, Season 2: The Desmond, Season 3: The Others. Yes, I said The Desmond, because he is The Coolest. I’m predicting this one will begin with the original Others (“The Hostiles”), with a likely focus on Richard. My prediction is a flashback to colonial times where we’ll learn about Black Rock and how it ended up on the island. That episode with young Ben first encountering Richard in colonial dress in the jungle would seem to suggest they’ve been there an awfully long time.

Anyone else have another prediction?

Why spoiler the predictions? As long as they’re pure speculation…

Here’s mine:

I’m with you on the continuation of widening the sphere of understanding in a surprising way. But I think it will involve something about The Others off The Island, not on The Island. They will make us think it is on The Island, and then we’ll see that it’s not. Kind of opposite to Season 2 and 3 premier episodes.

Heh, well, half of it was my speculation … I was assuming the established info on the episodes qualified as spoilers. I can never tell on here.

So who do you predict would be the focal character of such a premier? I doubt it would be Ben; there isn’t any mystery surrounding him anymore. The season openers always start with a character of intrigue, but we learned all about his origins, plus Jack beat him bloody. He is no longer “in control”, and there isn’t nearly as much allure to the character anymore. Richard, on the other hand …

I don’t know. But keep in mind that Desmond wasn’t so much a character of intrigue since we knew of him from Jack’s flashbacks. In fact, they had to keep his face hidden during the intro, or we would have recognized him right away. They might do something with Richard like that, too. Or, it might focus on Penny in some way. It could be any number of people.

I doubt they will focus much on Richard since the actor is currently starring in Cane on another network. I suspect he wasn’t available much to them.

I predict that we will start the season focused on one of the people from the freighter we have been hearing so much about.

There’s also the Office on at 9 on Thursdays, which is what I and a lot of other people watch. I think it’s a dumb move on their part, they had a good time on Wednesdays. I think part of the reason they want to move it is so that they can try and pull people away from the other shows. Now I’ll be forced not to watch and have to record it, which is fine since my wife hates all of the commercials.

I can’t see the preview but I’m so psyched about seeing “Lost”! Can someone summarize that new trailer for me?

Here’s the gist of it…

Wow… and thanks Tanstaafl

Heh, that was a great breakdown, but we all realize that the commercials have never had anything to do with what actually happens, right? ABC’s trailers remind me of those Youtube recuts and mashups of popular movies which make them out to be something completely different than what they are (i.e. The Shining as a heartwarming comedy)
