I am watching the recap from last night and I’m sooooo ready for Lost to start again. I mean JEEZ I need some quality television
I guess this is as good a place as any to post something I noticed when rewatching the last episode. When Jack and Locke were extracting the dynamite from its case, Locke starts comparing the process to the old kids’ game “Operation.” Jack says something like, “You like games?” and Locke says with a significant look, “Oh, yeah.”
That got me thinking about how many times we see Locke involved with games:
-Playing backgammon with Walt, at least twice that I can think of
-Showing the customer how to play Mousetrap (which felt very metaphorical to me anyway)
-Telling his mother where to find the football
-Playing Risk at work with his friend
What does it mean? I don’t know. But it’s interesting. To me, anyway.
Ohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy.
I really can’t wait.
I’ve been trying to rewatch Season 1 on DVD in preparation for Season 2, but it looks like I’m not going to make it. Does that make me a bad person?
I’m not going to make it either, Trion. I made it through the first two discs, then realized I’m going to run out of time. On Sunday, I plan to watch the final three hours and make sure I’m boned up, but I feel your pain.
I am SO excited. Have already set my Tivo. Have already rewatched the last three eppies of last season. I am stoked. Might even have a Lost party.
I’m super excited; last year I only watched a couple episodes, but I’ve blown through the DVDs over the past week and I can’t wait for the new shows to start. I’m not sure how I’ll react to having to wait week(s) between episodes when I watched the whole first year in like 5 days
It’s okay … you’ll have the weekly thread for entertainment.
I finally got see the finale last night. I’m quite excited top see where they are going with season 2. I am also looking forward to the discussion threads. (IMHO participating in the discussion threads here makes the show a much better experience).
I presume somebody will start the threads at the appropriate time.
Brian
Wheeeeeeeee! You guys, I can’t hardly wait! Don’t call me on Wednesday night, because I will twitching with glee and won’t be able to answer the phone.
Yay! I can participate now!
We got hooked watching reruns over the summer, then decided to wait for the DVDs once they started skipping episodes. So this past week, thanks to Netflix, we had a Lost orgy, and the beauty is that I only have to wait a week to find out what happens next. I’ll have no such luck this season!
I can’t believe I missed this show when it first ran. It has so many awesome features - great writing and acting, actual characterization, willingness to kill main characters, Mira Furlan appearances (and she makes me completely forget Delenn), Sawyer’s ultra-low rise jeans, there are just too many to list.
I will be here with you all each week, speculating and salivating!
Ack I’ll have to wait a WHOLE DAY after you lucky Americans get to watch it. The files aren’t available for download until 24 hours after they’ve been aired.
It’s going to be torture staying out of the threads until then.
Must stay away, must stay away, must stay away…
Just fyi, the game they were playing was Axis and Allies
Ah, yes, that’s right.
What does it mean? I’ll give you a big hint: have you heard of the book Games People Play?
Locke is a consummate manipulator.
Getting Charlie off heroin, he told him – right up front – that the third time Charlie asked for the heroin, Locke would hand it to him. Charlie could have simply said “Give it to me. Give it to me. Give it to me.” and been done with it, but something about Locke made him play along.
With Boone, Locke played plenty of games. He even dosed him with the hallucinogenic stuff to lead Boone out of the funk that made him dangerous to Sayid.
When Jack asks Locke “Do you like to play games” and Locke says “Oh yeah,” the subtext isn’t even really subtext at that point: it’s so far along in the season that everyone who’s been paying attention realizes that Locke loves to play personal politics.
I’m so excited! I’m not even using my fingers to type, if that’s a clue to tell you how excited I am…
They have fun with this in the DVD commentary for this episode; apparently in the original script Locke makes Charlie ask 11 times ;).
Surely you mean 4, 8, 15, or 16 times.
I’m excited because of a new character. I don’t know how it could be a spoiler, but I’ll box it anyway:
Adewale Adkinnouye-Agbaje – Adebisi – from HBO’s OZ
- ::: grabs rockle and does the happy dance :::*
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I can’t wait!
