Lost taskbar

I’m using Windows 98 and I just lost my taskbar!

I realise that you can make the taskbar fatter/thinner, and that’s what I think I’ve done (because I can still see a thin grey stripe at the bottom of the screen). However, dragging the mouse on it does not increase its width, even though the mouse has a “double arrow” cursor when it’s over it. So how can I get it back? (Please don’t say “Reinstall Windows.”)

Any help would be very much appreciated!

This is gonna make no sense, but this used to happen to me occasionally… do you have AOL Instant Messenger open? Try closing it and see if that does anything. Sound really bizarre, I know, but it always worked for me. I haven’t the slightest clue why, and that’s probably not your problem at all, but… ::shrug::

Try this.

I’ve lost my Windows Taskbar how do I get it back?

It wasn’t AIM, but it was IE, as far as I can tell. As I closed IE windows in preparation for a reboot, the taskbar magically reappeared. (Actually, it might have been Eudora. Hmmm…)

Before then, not even Ctrl+Esc would activate the start menu. The taskbar was truly frozen.

Thanks all.
