LotR DVDs -- quick question about versions

I bought the super-deluxe DVD version of The Fellowship of the Ring because it came with the Argonath bookends. Does anyone know if The Two Towers will be released in a special edition that contains goodies like that?

No site but I believe I read (probably in a thread here) they will release a special edition (of extended version) with each tower as a book end.

I haven’t heard anything about physical goodies like the bookends, only about extra footage. I think the bookends would be nice to house the entire set.

Do you think it will be released around Thanksgiving like the last one was?

Last I heard Johnny, the DVD is coming out in August.

Here is a recent thread on the release of the DVD(s). No mention of the bookends but I still believe it will happen. Too much money to be made to pass on it. How much was the first Bookend edition? $50? $60?

Thanks, NYR407.

I usually don’t open the LotR threads because they seem to be rehashing the same stuff over and over. But I didn’t see your linked thread at all.

AFAIK (and I am both a Tolkien Geek and in the DVD retail industry), the release of TTT will follow the same schedule as FOTR.

that is:
Theatrical release DVD (with some bonus goodies) in August.
Extended Edition/Collector’s Edition DVDs (both extended cuts, the latter with bookends) released in November.
ROTK in December.

I’m holding out for a boxed set of all three movies, in the collector’s edition format.

I suspect my wait will extend well into 2004, but I figure it will be worth it.

My $.02.
