LOTR: The Two Towers DVD dates announced

Well, it is not on New Line’s sites, but I’m taking this as official.

Theatrical DVD August 26. Read the link for details
Extended Edition November 18. About 40 minutes of extra footage + commentaries and making ofs.

No mention of a gift pack.

*** Whiners, please note: You have been warned. There WILL be an extended edition. You have sevaral months to decide which version(s) you want. I’m sure prices and other details will be announced well ahead of time. But this is your first heads-up.

I’m sure people will still complain about the EVIL SCHEMING CAPITALIST PIGS! who are forcing them with a veritable gun to the head to buy the DVD twice.

It will be so difficult to wait until Nov. But I did it last year with FOTR. I will do it again for TT.

I agree with the complainers when you don’t know there is going to be a extended DVD, or even if you suspect there will be one, but you aren’t sure when. Here NL is taking the high road and telling everyone how much longer you’ll have to wait. Eventually they will tell us how much moire it is and how much you will get for waiting/paying more.

I’ll probably try to get the theatrical version free (I got FOTR free for test driving a Kia–or at least pretending to) and buy the exteneded edition (or the gift set, depending on what comes with it)

The official site has more info on the theatrical version

I’m one of the running-dog puppets of the capitalists, I guess, because from the moment I heard that each movie was going to have a theatrical release and an extended release, each with different special features, I haven’t even considered owning anything less than all 6 versions.

Anybody else hoping for two tower bookends this time?
