LOTR MMORPG lifetime membership

I hardly got to play at all so far. The exhaust fan on my power supply went dead yesterday morning and I just got the 'puter working again about a half hour ago.

There’s link there to sort out European access, but you have to look for it and it’s a seperate site. We apparently get access at a later point to those across the pond, but I haven’t heard anything back so it may just be I haven’t done it correctly.

Started on Brandywine, but I didn’t get undefeated, so I’m starting a human on Silverlode. Name is Brindor. Give me a shout!

Okay, it’s looking like Silverlode is the one. Be on the lookout for a character asking if there are any “friends of Cecil” out there.

So, should we start a kinship? It was much more pleasurable to chat with Dopers in COH than to read the dribble in OOC chat.

For those of you who didn’t preorder and want to get in April 6, try this link.

Four new servers coming:

Arkenstone
Firefoot
Nimrodel
Vilya

And I’m in! - well I created my character on Silverlode. (Dwaim, a Dwarf Champion from the Iron Hills: bald, medium length auburnish beard). Haven’t played the game yet.

See you all soon.

Brian

I got a beta code from PC Gamer magazine with a 30 day sub. If I like it I’ll probably grab a preorder pack and do the lifetime deal. I’ll try and get in tomorrow.

I, too, have a Dwarf Champion on Silverlode.

I started playing it a bit this morning. So far, it seems fairly good.

The most amusing thing about it is that, if you’ve played WoW, you can play LotRO. The UI elements are basically the same, the quest procedure is almost the same… heck, even the keyboard commands are almost exactly the same.

It may be that I’m running it at a higher video quality than I should, but it seems a bit “clunky”- it’s not as smooth as WoW is. However, it’s a LOT prettier. Well, except for the character faces, particularly the hair. Man, that’s some ugly hair.

One bit that I really liked- if your character is from one realm, say Rohan, and he visits another realm, your name will change to “Xxxxx of Rohan”. Nice touch.

Early impression is good, although I must say that I’m a little disappointed in Turbine. It definitely feels very much like WoW, almost too much for me.

I think I’m going to end up minstrel, I’m always partial to healer classes.

For now, I’m on Silverlode and I’ll post a name once I pick a class for sure.

Seems fun though… I may end up pre-ordering!

I’m in the Something Awful guild (Nazgun), but would gladly group or help anyone who needs it. Currently I have:

Flora - my main, a human minstrel, level 15 (capped)
Hemlock - my alt, elven loremaster, level 15 (capped)
Pahpi - hobbit hunter, another alt, at level 12

Oh, all on Silverlode.

Got a couple characters going on Silverlode.

Drano, hobbit minstrel, level 12
Ardel, Elf Hunter, level 7

Any dopers putting a guild together? If not I was thinking of starting one for us. Maybe a name like, Truthseekers or some such.

ETA - I saw a Shoshana on this weekend but didn’t get to ask, was that our Shoshana or just a coincidence?

Started up on Silverlode over the weekend as well. I’ve got a Race of Man Loremaster named Parfex, a Hobbit Burglar named Adielo, and an Elf Champion named… heck, can’t remember. It’s a shame, 'cause he’s the one I enjoy the most.

Of the three starting areas, I think the Elflands are the most fun. The human areas I found to be kind of confusing- there’s no clear path. The Hobbit areas seem like modern suburbs- there’s tons of sprawl. You barely step out of one town before you’re in another, which kind of makes it hard to believe that there’d be many wild animals. I like the way the Elflands work- pretty much just one path heading north.

It seems very easy to overload your quest log- I understand you can have forty quests at any given time. My log gets that full, I start having problems keeping them all straight. It also doesn’t help that directions can be fairly vague- it’d be nice if they had an optional arrow to point you in the right direction on the minimap.

I got into the first phase of beta and… I dunno, it didn’t grab me. I’m kinda on MMO hiatus right now. 4 years of Dark Age of Camelot, then SWG, to raid tanking in EQ2 and I’m kinda burned out. But I got my non gaming SO into LOTRO so I bought it for me as well so I can tool around there with him. He’s compeletely new to MMO’s and he’s been figuring it out pretty well.

HATE the UI. Hate. Also find movement clunky and while the graphics are beautiful, PC’s are hideous and NPC’s with the non moving faces are creeeepy.

Think mine are all on the original server, Melendor. I’ll hit up Silverlode sometime maybe; I’ll be Amaravasa or Asamsaktha.

I’d love to get a guild going. I can’t stand OOC. Drives me nuts. It might be hard for us to locate each other in the game with the way they divide the communications. Is there a Server-wide channel?

I’ve been hanging around Bree and the Marshes with my humans: Ulfwald the lvl 10 Champion, Aethelraed the lvl 9 Burglar and Ard, the lvl 7 minstrel.

Agree, Hugh. I make a non-OOC tab, but sometimes some relevant info pops into OOC (such as someone looking to team for epic quests).

I’ve already maxed a hunter on Brandywine, and a Guardian on Silverlode. I have a 13 Dwarf champion on Silverlode named Druga, and may try a Hobbit burglar before beta is over. My wife and I also have a matched pair Hunter / Minstrel, at level 8. Between us, we have all the crafting skills.

Look for me as “Ithelneth” on Silverlode. Let’s do form a [del]supergroupguild[/del]kinship.

I’ll try to be on tonight and later this week.

Okay, to get this ball rolling, I will be logged onto Silverlode as Ulfwald at around 5 p.m. Central Time. I will stay on until roughly 7 Central Time. I will be galivanting in and around the Marsh, with occasional stops in Staddle and Bree. If anyone is online and contacts me, we can go to the clerk in Combe and register a kinship. If I remember correctly, we have to have a certain number of members within a certain period of time for the kinship to remain active. We’ll come up with a name. It’s likely that we can change that name in the future.

I’ve seen a group called Fat Smokin’ Hobbits, which amuses me for some reason. And Knights Who Say Ni has been taken too. Maybe we can work in a “-gry” reference somehow.
