LOTR Weaponry

Now that the films are shot, does anyone know what they are planning to do with it? From the special features DVD, I learned that many of the weapons were forged by master craftsmen, and there were hundreds of them forged.

So who wouldn’t like to get their hands on a memento of the finest trilogy ever filmed?

Thanks

Some were on display at the last GenCon.

A lot of the stuff from the movies is going on a exhibition tour… I imagine youll get it in the states sometime early next year as it started out in NZ/Australia for several months, and is currently running at the London science museum. Heres the link to info about it in the UK anyway click me

Alternatively if you dont get any information there… and in fairness theres not much there… Try doing a search on Te papa and LOTR and exhibition

A while back, I saw some of the original movie pops being sold on ebay. The prices were, however, FAR out of my reach.

ebay has 176 pages of LOTR merchandise listed, and some of those folks can’t spell worth a damn. I was looking for a better price on the pewter goblets that Noble offers, but I gave up after 5 paqes.

That 4 dollar Ring of Power sure does look cool, though, don’t it? I passed it up though, 'cause I already have the sterling silver version that I bought online from a reputable jeweler.

Watch yourself if you’re thinking of buying those “autographed” photos of the cast. Look at your merchant’s feedback first.

May I also sugest the dealer rooms at Sci-Fi conventions.

Excellent suggestion, Karp2381! I am an avid Batman Comics collector (only back to 68, I’m afraid), and seing the object to be bought first-hand goes a long way to solidifying your confidence in the purchase.

I would very much like to have just something from the film! (Well, Aragorn’s sword, but I bet he already has it on his wall!:D) But I would need to know that it was authentic! For this reason, I favor an auction of some kind for some kind of charity. Hell, I’m not rich by any means, but it would sure be fun to bid on some of the stuff from the films, don’t you think?

Authenticity is a reason I stay away from ebay. I’m sure that many of the merchants there are reputable, but how many aren’t? And what are my chances of picking one of the latter persuasion?

It woud be great to have official sanction from Mr. Jackson and New Line about an auction, and it would be exciting as hell.

Just an idea, but God what a present to give yourself, huh?
