'Love-and-Go' Island

My biology teacher was telling of her son’s band. She said it was named after a West Indies island, famous for its brothels during the age of mercantilist trade. Because of its trade, it became known as ‘Love-and-go’ Island. That phrase was eventually abbreviated into, roughly, ‘Lovengo.’

Now, how do I spell that, and can anyone offer any additional information?

Thanks.

Lovango Cay. It’s in the Virgin Islands.

"There is a popular but untrue rumor concerning how Lovango Cay got its name. According to the story, there was once a brothel on the island and sailors would “love and go.” Actually, Lovango, Mingo and Congo Cays were named after sections of Africa from which slaves were brought to the islands. "

Sorry, guys. I know it’s cooler to have a band named after a brothel than after geography, but hey, those are the breaks.

That’s okay, Ducks, it’s the price we have to pay :smack: (swats mosquito on forehead) for fighting ignorance! (Double bass chord) (lightning seen through window)
