Most people express their love by getting married and exchanging wedding rings. Some go out and get matching tattoos.
But for Clive Mathias and Gillian Hyde, that was too mundane, too superficial. They wanted something that would really bind them together-something that would really MEAN something.
Warning-it’s "work safe, but there’s some rather disturbing pictures. Nothing TOO graphic, although the close up of Gillian’s finger stump made me nauseaus.
It’s not so much that they decided on matching amputations, as that they did it themselves by BITING it off. That’s just…gaaahh!!! On the other hand, that article just made sticking to my diet a hell of a lot easier!
Check the date of the article. BME’s April Fools’ joke. They’re always very graphic and often get passed around the internet as ‘weird but true’ stories.
Do whatever you can imagine to make a bond that is supposed to be eternal, but six months from now there will be just two individuals walking around with fucked up digits and major regrets.
It is an April Fool’s joke. I don’t know if the comment forum can only be seen by members or not, but that is where the joke is revealed. Like Parkov said, BME always has good articles on April Fool’s day.
When I read this my first thought was “This is probably an April Fool’s joke.” I’m glad you guys proved me right. I still couldn’t look at all the pictures though.
Oh, I’m sure there are people out there who HAVE had their fingers amputated on purpose…but I’m sure they had a professional…um, body modifier do it. It’s a RELIEF to learn this was a joke. (However, that picture still makes me sick. I keep thinking of it whenever I’m tempted to binge on junk food.)
