This is really nice. Smilies could be changed, but other than that, it’s great.
The columns don’t resize. I’ve gotta keep this window wide always - that sucks!
I usually keep the Dope down to a small window in the corner so I can keep up with my work, if I have to keep it wide or else scroll back and forth…
Defintely not cool that the columns don’t resize if you have a smaller screen or need a smaller window.
Different… bad… SPOOFE… no like! Gah!
Why different?!? WHY DIFFERENT?!?!? ::runs and hides under the bed::
This isn’t the Straight Dope anymore! It looks like a Fisher-Priced… version…

This is only temporary. They haven’t made the “SD modifications” yet. Which I assume will make it look more like it used to. I hope it loses the forced 800x600 format!
Interesting way to include quotes.
No quick reply? Or is that an option they just haven’t turned on yet?
Ah… I see the include sig box is now checked by default, too.
Where is the subscribe to thread button?
To answer your Q NoClueBoy, there is a menu bar at the top of the page that says “thread tools”.
Thread tools has changed.
Yesterday, it had an option for unsubscribing. But, that’s gone now. It’s now in a box under the reply box.
The smilies were a different colour, too.
I wonder if we’ll get the instant reply box back.
I’ll wait until they announce it’s finished before asking anything else.

You get the opposite problem, running in high resolution. For me, the thread is only filling about two thirds of the window width, which translates into a lot more scrolling than I used to need.
In addition to the inconvenience of this, I’m really more troubled by the Microsoftian design philosophy this represents. It would have actually been easier to not specify a width for the thread table, in which case the individual browser (which has easy access to things like the window size) would decide on an appropriate width. But sadly, Jelsoft has instead opted to assume that everyone is running with the same settings that they’re using on their test machine, and taken forcible control of things that should have been left well enough alone. Incidentally, this is probably also closely related to the problems which many users have had with the layout of the reply window.
On another note, the quick-reply box was never a standard vBulletin option. It was added here in a custom modification which fell just short of what the administration considers a “hack”, and I have no way of knowing whether a similar modification is possible and has been worked out for the new version. Unfortunately, it may take us a while to see that feature return.
I miss the “Quote” button and quick reply box on the thread page, and the HTML button on the reply page, and am having a little trouble getting used to the colors, but I figure those are all on the way.
On the other hand, I love the new toys! The quick links at the top of the page, the time zone offset options, and the skins are great fun, and the summaries when I mouse over a thread title are wonderful!
Welcome back!
Umm… what Quote button are you talking about?

Umm… what Quote button are you talking about?
Of course, I don’t have the original source anymore, but I thought there used to be three buttons on the lower right of each post: “Reply,” “Quote,” and “Report this post to a moderator.” At the time I posted earlier, I hadn’t figured out that the reply button that is now at the bottom of each post quotes that post in your reply, while the reply button at the bottom of the thread opens a blank reply box. I’m fairly certain that one of these buttons used to say “Quote,” but that could simply be a different label on the same button.
On the other hand, I’ve imagined much more interesting things…
