Low carb diet for 4 weeks - Anyone care to join me? [Continung discussion]

Over the last three months I’ve gone from 160 lbs to 144 lbs. Mainly by reducing my beer intake, but I’ve also cut way back on snacking.

Wow, you actually metamorphosed into a real cheerleader!

Congrats to all who are checking in and fighting the fight, whether via low carb or whatever.
mmm

Rah, rah, sis boom bah,
Make low carb the thing you chaw!
Gooooooo Team!

(I think I need cheerleading school)

Nobody could be more surprised than me.

Wait, you don’t know what we’re doing either?

I don’t know why I’d start understanding anything at this late date!

Understanding is overrated.

Cheerleader Arrendajo here to tell you all to buck up and keep at it! Walk every day! Keep up the pace, and if you fall, get up and charge forward with renewed vigor and determination! Ever onward to better bodies and better selves! Remember – no obstacles, only challenges!

Today’s cheer:
We like protein! Yes we do!
We do not like placenta stew!

And I’m here to tell you it’s true: scootergirl’s butt looks absolutely great!
And it feels pretty darn good, too!

I hate to quibble, we DON’T like placenta stew scans better.

I’ve leveled off in weight and body fat, only to be expected after the first week, but I have seen two positve

… positive results. My blood pressure is down, and I fasted for 15 hours without feeling hungry.

I’m adding an ounce of tofu to breakfast and lunch.

Still here. Hunger pains (pangs?) seem to be mostly gone, and the carb cravings. I cannot be anywhere near ice cream however. My brain says “hey, that’s rich in fat, right?” and then I ruthlessly squelch all subsequent thoughts about sugar. I am thinking about making my own ice cream with Splenda to solve this problem.

Still down in weight overall. No changes in my headaches yet (which is the other area I’m tackling with this).

You’d think I’d know that, being a songwriter and all…

Ouch.
Well, songs are different, aren’t they?

Came to this thread late but I’m in.

Beer is my Achilles tendon. My diet is already pretty low carb if you take out beer, and I pretty much only drink low alcohol (2-4%) homebrew so I’m guessing the carbs aren’t huge but I drink too much of those. Anyhoo, I also realized on Sunday that distilled alcohol is no carb. While Atkins heresy, I can stick to a almost no carb diet if I’m not giving up alcohol at the same time, so Whiskey and soda here we come.

Zero carb since kicking off Monday morning with the exception of some veggies like zucchini. Most meals I find revolting these past few days. Actually as I’m not a big meat fan, but cheddar, eggs, canned sardines in olive oil, and seafood are a solace.

Down 7lbs exactly. It’s coming off slower than an old AOL dial-up internet connection. At least that’s what it seems like to me. It’s frustrating, but I’ll take it.

Not all low carb recipes work. I saw a recipe for crackers or chips made out of parmesan cheese. I grated my own, placed small mounds on a parchment covered cookie sheet and sprinkled with a little rosemary from the garden, then placed in a 425 degree oven for 7 minutes. The cheese melted nicely and they looked fine, but they tasted awful. Maybe a little overcooked. It was basically burnt cheese.

Here you go.

9 pounds down.
Joints aching led from no sugars in me.

Tiny first steps but encouraged!!!

Thanks for that. While I can’t measure it, I make a 2% ale with about half the grain bill of Newcastle brown. So that lowest weight ale probably clocks in around 5 gr carb per bottle. Guess what’s going in the fermenter on Saturday?

I’m still keeping with the almost zero carbs, and I’ve got a trip to Taiwan so will stock up on some salami, cheddar & sardines to take with. And you can bet when 30 days are up I’ll treat myself to a low carb ale

A random nutritional label said the product contains 27 g of carbohydrates per serving, and that 27 g is 10% of the recommended daily allowance. So the RDA of carbohydrates seems to be 270 g.

I estimate I’m consuming 40 to 50 g of carbohydrates per day.

.

Ooooh. Gin and sugar free tonic.

My Firday check in - down 6 pounds! Wheee! I am happy. It’s coming off faster in week 2, then in week 1. I’ll take it.

Vodka and cherry Zevia is my go to drink when I’m in a strict low carb phase.
