Low carb diet for 4 weeks - Anyone care to join me? [Continung discussion]

Mr. CK reports that he had to punch another hole in his belt to keep his pants up.

I’m wearing my new 501s and size-smaller shirt today.

Is there commercially available keto ice cream? If so, under what brands/sub-brands?

I’ve been eating a low carbohydrate diet for decades, and don’t use most commercial products; but I hear good things about a brand of ice cream called Halo Top. It’s sweetened with erythritol, a sugar alcohol that provokes low or no insulin response, and has 4 grams net carbohydrates per 1/2 cup serving. I’ve never tasted it, but as I said, I hear good things.

What, is that our new cheer?

(jk, thanks!)

And congrats to everyone!

Checking in…down 7 lbs since starting. Clothes that were a little snug are back to fitting great. Some are getting a little loose. It usually takes a good 15 lb loss for me to go down a whole clothing size and with how women’s clothes are sized…I already wear 4 different sizes depending on the brand.

I forgot how much better I feel when I am carefully limiting my carbs.

Let’s agree to keep the Chinese family friendly. And low carb!

Appreciate you starting this thread.
Is it just me, or does the ultra low carb show great results for the first 1-2 weeks, and then there is a pretty long plateau where the weight seems pretty stubborn?

Need to adjust the mental calibration if that’s the case! Drop 5 pounds in a week, so at least I think, heck in a month I’ll be down 20 at my old fighting weight. And it turns out not to be so easy…:smack:

I think that’s probably typical, but it doesn’t have to be. If you remain diligent - and stay mindful of calories taken in - you will continue to lose steadily. Not as dramatically as in the beginning, but steadily.

The key is to prepare mentally for setbacks or plateaus and not let yourself get discouraged (easier said than done, I know).

I’m within a few ounces of ten pounds lost. I gave myself a cheat day last Saturday - ate some manly-man pancakes (Made them with three eggs, so still a ton of protein) and a cup of ice cream for dessert. I felt like complete crap the next morning. It was a real eye-opener.

Yesterday I finally got out to the swimming pool. Putting on the suit was not fun at all, but it felt great to be able to get some exercise without my foot hurting. Got a haircut too, which always cheers me up.

In two and a half months, I’ve lost 35 pounds.

Terrific! Good for you!

I am so close to being out of the 130s. I have .8lbs to go. When I see the 120s I’ll be super motivated to continue until I reach my goal. I am short, barely 5’3", but the lighter I get the taller I feel!

Congratulations on everyone’s progress! And thanks to our cheerleaders, too!

It’s strawberry season and I did a wretched excess–super sweet Hood berries cut up and a bit of Splenda to encourage them to give up juice, over a swirl of no bake cheesecake filling (also made with Splenda) with a bit of whipped cream on top. Decadent, but very low carb friendly. I like pushing the envelope with this regimen, I figure if I discover early on how to incorporate a little richness I’m more likely to just adapt to eating better as a permanent change. This stuff definitely qualifies!

I haven’t checked in for a while, but I’m still going strong. Never had a day since we started that I consumed more than 20 carbs.

Down 15.4 lbs. in 3 weeks.

Thanks to everyone who is cheering and/or keeping the thread alive.

Good going, that full keto regimen is a bear!

Discouraged as all hell. Cannot figure out what I did to get out of ketosis but I’ve been out for the last couple of days. I’m up four pounds. :frowning:

Are you confident that your carb counting is accurate? Go to Calorie King and verify *everything *you eat.

I was recently surprised to learn that a cucumber has 10 carbs.

C’mon back on the wagon, good luck!

Yes, I clearly need to do a much better job of checking account on everything including all of the vegetables I am eating. I’m not giving up - I’m determined to make this work in the Long Haul. But it sure is frustrating!
