Why is it when I go shopping now, I cannot find any thing that is not low in something? Everything is either low fat, low sodium, gluten free, “light”, etc. I am 83 years old and normal weight. I bought some pretzels at Walmart, and didn’t realize until I got home that they were “fat free”.
I like a beer occasionally with lunch and prefer draft, but every local restaurant serves only “light” beers on tap.
My fumiest story, years ago, when my secretary was trying to be nice to my, bought a bottle of “Light Vodka” for me that was on sale. It was only 40 proof, so some enterprising company, just added 50% water, and called it “light”, while charging more than 50% of the normal cost of 80 proof.
Snyders of Hanover* pretzels have either 1g or 0g of fat per serving. If you got “fat free” pretzels from them it’s because you bought a shape of pretzel that happens to have less than 1g of fat per serving. It’s only marked “fat free” because it happened to end up being fat free, like how an apple is fat free or how a potato is gluten free. Snyder decides to market it so people looking for fat free can easily spot their pretzels.
So don’t worry your pretty little head, you weren’t cheated out of any fat.
*I’m sure most other pretzel brands are the same but I didn’t search for them.
