Mods, I don’t know whether this question is more appropriate for GQ, GD or IMHO so feel free to move it wherever.
My father was recently diagnosed with calcific tendonitis in his achilles tendon where it attaches to the heel so his physiotherapist has started him on LLLT treatments (only 1 so far) but I’m curious as to its efficacy. When I was undergoing physio for my injured shoulder, I saw posters for LLLT but they were mixed up with ads for chromatherapy and acupuncture so I wrote LLLT off as just another pseudo-science.
Yet, despite my initial scepticism, some cursory googling seems to indicate that it can be of some use. However, the articles I’ve found seem to be equivocal and mostly dating back to 2008-2009. Wikipedia’s entry is filled with qualifiers and is relatively short when compared to entries on other, more conventional treatments.
Can anybody here provide me with some more up to date info or point me in the right direction? Do you think its worth it for my father to continue his treatments or should he look into other options?
