I only played a demo of the first Luigi’s Mansion. I wasn’t impressed enough to buy it. I don’t know why I decided to buy Dark Moon, but I did. Boy am I glad! This game ROCKS. I was playing it all day and night. It scored high with the critics, but I would score it higher than most. The ONLY thing that I would have maybe a slight issue with, is the back-tracking. The game is so polished… Nintendo, at it’s best, is the “Disney” of the gaming world. Like when Luigi’s in an elevator waiting to go down, he twiddles his thumbs, humming the elevator music.
There really needs to be more games like this. I got to the first boss, and it’s not JUST a battle of brawn; You really have to use your head, as there’s a certain way to defeat it.
I beat it just a few days ago. It really is a fantastic game with tons of charm and fantastic atmosphere. It has some of the best 3D effects that I’ve seen on the 3DS too.
I agree that it’s Nintendo at their best, which is surprising as it wasn’t even Nintendo who made it! Next Level Games (from Canada) was the developer, though I’m sure they had a lot of input from Nintendo.
Here’s an interview that talks about Nintendo’s involvement:
It’s sad that Sticker Star turned out to be such crap… IMHO.
When you beat the game, did you get all the Boos, Gems? Does collecting all the dog bones count for anything? I’m starting missions over if I die and lose a dog bone since I’m not sure it has any significance after beating the game.
I didn’t collect everything I could, I found most of the gems and boos but I still have some to get. There are quite a few levels for me to 3-star still as well. I don’t think there’s a reward for keeping the dog bones beyond some extra cash (200 coins, according to the internet) at the end of the level.
