Luxuries you don't enjoy

Similar for spas, pedicures, massages. Ew…don’t touch me…stop touching me!

I don’t care about sheets of linen or thread count. Give me soft flannel sheets and pillow case, keeps you toasty warm in the ski cabin.

Cufflinks? What a pain in the ass. Only have ever used them a couple of times in my life.

Bathroom attendants. To me it seems horribly classist and demeaning to expect someone to hand you a towel, spray lemon on your hands, etc. I flew on business through Doha and had access to the first class lounge, and there they had someone walk into the pooper stall before and after you, mist-spritzing the air, and laying out a doily-textured toilet seat paper in front of you with a flourish and a bow. There are rich asshats that get an ego boost from this “privilege”?

How do you figure they are distractions?

More light (especially with the sunroof), more fresh air. Okay, maybe noisier but not much more so than with windows open.

I’ll give you a convertible can be bright in the cockpit on a sunny day but a hat solves that issue.

Ditto on massages, in fact I’ll raise the game to include servants (or a “staff”). The very last thing I want is someone creeping around my house snickering every time I fart too loudly.

Post/user name thing.

I take it you really hate the idea of motorcycles?

I love small convertibles. I’ve had an MG and a Miata and will probably get a Porsche of some flavor eventually. Motorcycles are also a luxury I love.

Ewww, that sounds horrible. My experience with bathroom attendants is more along the line of a bored woman who sits outside the gang toilet and demands a euro before letting you in. She probably replaces the toilet paper from time to time, and maybe if a toilet is clogged you’d tell her, i dunno. But she’s a minor annoyance with a clear purpose.

I don’t like servile service in general. It makes me uncomfortable. I like to imagine that the waiter might be my friend’s son, or my coworker’s mom. And that taxi driver probably is an immigrant working his first job before finding a better job. Treat me as a potential future friend, neighbor, or co-worker.

Yeah. At least, I’m not @enipla , but i don’t like convertibles, and i hate the idea of riding a motorcycle. Also, that terrifies me.

I was in a really posh County Club (as a guest) the bathroom had everything- shaving stuff, talcum powder, aftershave, hair stuff a few bandaids, etc. There was a small dish you could leave tips in and a spot for the attendant- who wasnt there at that time. I appreciated all the stuff as i was staying the night with my bubby and hadnt brought everything. I left whatever change i had- this was back in like the 80s, so over a buck in change wasnt being cheap.

Yep. Convertible sports cars are one of life’s great pleasures. Motorcycles were also for me years ago, but not now not around here. All risk, little reward here in non-scenic rectilinear Crazytown.

The idea convertibles are noisy or uncomfortable with the top up says the complainer hasn’t tried one in a decade or more. As to wind in your hair, that’s either something you enjoy or something you hate. And no, the windspeed inside any modern convertible is nowhere near the vehicle speed.

No, not really. I used to practically live on my dirt bike. Had three through the years. My last two cars had sunroofs though I didn’t order them or ever use them. :man_shrugging:

I have an electric bike that I zip around our neighbor hood now. It’s fun. I don’t know if I will ever ‘graduate’ to riding on a bike lane next to a busy road. Two many car drivers are distracted/on their phone. Passed a guy last night on the highway that was texting.

I pretty exclusively use drive throughs, otherwise it is get the van parked, get out the wheelchair, roll my ass in, try shopping or getting to the serving counter [crowds, ugh. Narrow aisles, ugh] pay, roll my ass and my whatever i needed back out to the van, fold the chair and hoik it back in [which I can barely manage, I have to sit on the edge of the seat facing out, and work to my side moving the chair into the slidy door mid row area] and leave. WHat most people can do in a 10 minute run in, takes me at least double that time. Visiting Harry Potter at Fla Universal LO! these 10 or so years ago I couldn’t go into ANYTHING except the sit down restaurant because narrow aisles and too many people refusing to let me roll. Rob and I had to have the staff MOVE people to get me back out, I got to see all of 1 row of candy in Bertie Botts or whatever the candy store was called.

Drive through is a requirement, not a luxury.

Jewelry, watches, designer glasses, etc. I don’t wear any. It has zero appeal to me.

I have never been on a cruise, but I am 100% convinced I would absolutely hate it.

The garlic butter is the draw here, and the fun of pulling the mollusks out of the cute little shells. No one wants to see a plate of cooked slugs on a plate, just lying there… I’ve seen plastic tubes of shells attached to a can of snails in the grocery store, to make your own at home.

Also probably has a lot to do with having short or long hair. Long hair whipping you in the face and destroying any hairstyle isn’t fun.

That’s what a hair band or clip is for. She likes the convertible as long as her hair is properly secured.

how do you feel about Goldwasser?

I solved that problem by no longer having any hair. It also neatly side steps the problem of motorcycle helmet hair.

Convertibles, motorcycles, small, sailboats, open cockpit airplanes, bicycles. All joys of mine, all have one thing in common. You’re out in your environment, feeling the motion.

I’m puzzled–why do you think “cigars are complex to smoke”? It’s just clip/light/inhale

Do you have one?

Ha. No. Only paid for rides.
