Lynn Bodini - Another Mod with an itchy trigger finger

In this thread, which I just started a little while ago, I mentioned how I got to go to the gym and was able towatch many news networks on TV at the same time. My point, which was obviously wasted on you, is that in my hour watching the networks deliver the “news”, the main stories repeated over and over were the ones I mentioned.

28 minutes into its young life, you squashed my thread. :dubious:

You dismissed it with “Wrong forum. Possibly wrong board. Closed.”

Excuse me, but I pay an annual fee to post here. The collective hivemind here decides what this board will be about, not the mods. Sure, you have to keep us between the lines, but I expect you to protect the board from threads about felching goats and technical instructions on how to build a dirty bomb.

What rule did my thread violate? I was commenting on the way the networks all seem to have the same sources and how they are all really just mirror images of each other. They constantly focus on one or two sensational stories to the exclusion of so much else that is going on in the world. Maybe I did not say it all in the OP, but if a discussion blossomed, I would have said it later.

Commenting on the incompetence or complicity of the media is a viable and valid discussion. Perhaps there was not enough vitriol or vulgarity to justify this staying in the Pit, but you could have moved it instead of close it.

So, I add the following in the hopes you will deem this thread worthy of life in the Pit:

Lame closing. Fuck you.

Oh, was *that *the point of that thread? You could try using a different color of crayon next time.

Someone’s already fighting the good fight for you over here.
And I agree with the general consensus, which is that it took an awful lot of between-the-line reading to understand just what your point was. You didn’t, in fact, "commenting on the way the networks all seem to have the same sources and how they are all really just mirror images of each other. " nor did you “Commenting on the incompetence or complicity of the media is a viable and valid discussion.” Commenting involves, you know, words. Or at least pretty pictures. Not examples with no thesis.

I bet you dollars to donuts had you made an OP, or if you were to start another OP like this, it’d remain open:

“My point, which was obviously wasted on you …”

I’m constantly amazed at people that make obscure comments and are angered when people don’t immediately understand what they’re saying. Yo, newcrasher, have you ever tried, you know, saying what you mean to say instead of implying it in some tangential manner? For one thing, you never noted that what had your ire was that the news stories were repeated over and over again. You make no such point in your referenced thread.

Further more, even after you’ve explained yourself, I’m not sure where the pitting is. While watching a cable news network for an hour, news stories are repeated multiple times. Well, yea, that’s what cable news networks do.

As the originator of the other thread, I picked up the gist of the OP’s statement right away.

Valid close of a stupid thread. You didn’t really say anything. Next time, think things through better, and make an OP that’s worthwhile–ask a question, state a position, whatever.

You’re angry that you were called lazy?

Weak.

As we already have a thread on this topic, and it would probably cause a lot more confusion to merge the threads at this point, I will direct your ire to the current thread here and close this one.

However, I do insist that this thread counts towards my total.
