Lyrics "I Got The Music In Me" (Kiki Dee) Question

This may be a bit odd, but I am trying to see if anyone has the record and can tell me something, I heard it on an oldies show about a week ago.

Does she actually sing

I’VE got words in my head

or does she say

I got words in my head.

I have looked at the lyrics online and I’ve seen them written as such. I was just wondering, because I was singing it and some “grammar Nazi” is trying to tell me since the title is “I’ve Got The Music In Me,” she would have to sing “I’VE got…” not “I got.”

I looked on YouTube and such but can’t find a recording of it I can actually listen to see what she said.

Again I was wondering if anyone had the record and tell me what she ACTUALLY says not what’s on the lyric sheet, cause I know often those are wrong.

Thanks

The title is “I’ve”, but during the song she sings “I”.

You made our guest wait three whole minutes for an answer to this vital question. Shame!

Sorry, I was slacking.

I got the song on my iPod, andI’m listening to it right now. As fishbicycle said, in the song itself she sings, “I got the music in me”, and “I got words in my head so I say them.”

More importantly, though: There’s actually a grammar nazi who believes that song lyrics should be grammatically consistent?

Kiki Dee had another song besides “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart” with Elton John?

Yeah. I’ve got it on my mp3 player, too.

(Just when I think I’m the only one in the world who likes / remembers a certain song… Kindred souls appear.)

She had a whole career beginning in 1968 that seems to have been a secret, with 14 albums to her name. I’ve only ever seen two of them, though.

Her version of “Amoureuse” was a big hit in Australia c 1974.

mm

Thanks everyone, now I have to look forward to the Amoueuse argument. Yes it’s the same song as one done by Helen Reddy, just different words
