I said, “I’m so happy I could die”
She said, “Drop dead,” and left with another guy
That’s what you get if you go chasing after vengeance.
Ever since you got me punctured this has been my sentence.
-Elvis Costello, (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes
He does. I have this song on my running playlist so I’ve heard it about 384309 times (approximately) and he definitely says “pinch from the neck of Mr. Spock”.
ExTank – remember the copyright, pls. – if you want to supply the full lyrics to a song, provide a link to where they are elsewhere, don’t post them directly.
I started as an altar boy, working at the church
Learning all my holy moves, doing some research
Which led me to a cash box, labeled “Children’s Fund”
I’d leave the change, and tuck the bills inside my cummerbund
To those not familiar, the narrator is lying, cheating, thief with no conscience. He rattles off a long string of dirty deeds he has done in his life. With that in mind, here is my favorite part of the song:
In “Things Have Changed,” Bob Dylan finishes singing the line “The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity” exactly one minute before the end of the song.
I always look over my shoulder when I hear Don Henley in “The Boys of Summer” sing, “Don’t look back/You can never look back.”
I suppose I missed the gist of the thread. There are some songs that make me smile in a wry sort of way, unlike the ones I’ve posted lyrics to. Those actually make me laugh.
