And it was fun. For a little over a year now I’ve had a Honda Shadow 750. It took me A LOT of nerve to get on it the first time. The bikes we had in the MSF class were like scooters compared to this one. I had it in my garage for a few days before I even got up the nerve to take it around the block. Since then, I’ve become quite comfortable with it. A buddy of mine keeps telling me to take his Harley out for a spin. For the past year I keep telling him I’m not comfortable taking a 900+ pound bike on the road. Today, I did it. Didn’t go far and it took all my might just to back the thing up out of the parking spot he was in just so I could go. I only rode it for about a mile, but there were 4 (low speed) turns involved in that so I got a good feel for it. I knew I could do it, I was just really nervous about handling such a big bike, but he’s the type of guy to push you just a little past what you think you can do. I’m glad I took it out. I could very much see buying a much bigger bike someday.
In the past I think he’s told me it was a Classic Glide. I haven’t been able to find anything called, simply, Classic Glide. I believe it’s an Ultra Classic Electra Glide. It’s about 2 years old I think, but this one looks closest to what I rode. I do remember when he got it he told me it was the biggest (second biggest? one of the biggest?) bikes Harley makes.
ETA, running boards make a hell of a difference, even on short trips, pegs are annoying. I just didn’t realize how annoying they were.
EETA, I like my Shadow, but this bike was a helluva lot nicer. I know, I know, HD has plenty of issues, but it was still fun to ride.
