I am able to back up my mail to an external drive. Save it as Raw Message Source. Never a problem.
Now I go to do this, and I get not that interesting gray rectangle icon, but a single white sheet icon- and no mail is transferred in. The single white sheet is a placemarker but no data is moving.
I haven’t changed anything that I know of at all. I’m on OS-X 10.4.10. Any reason that Mail would no longer be exportable?
I tried saving to a folder on my desktop, and to the normal external firewire HD. No dice.
Cartooniverse
For the last month or so, when I boot my machine, Mail launches automatically and I have to enter my passwords for mail and get my mail. I can close it of course, but it launches unbidden.
Weird. I checked Preferences, too. No way to make this happen…
Have to corrected your permissions lately?
Yep I have. Disk Warrior, Disk Utility, Permissions, Persimmons, Parsimony, the whole bag o tricks.
I called AppleCare. Turns out that there is an OS-X software update that affects iconography.
Who knew?? Anyway, the Mail “save as” function still works and I can export the stuff and archive it as needed.
Weird.
