The Big N Tasty and the McDLT were virtually the same prodect, created to compete with the Whopper, I believe. One lasted 5 or 6 years, the other about a decade.
See, I would go to McDonald’s for nuggets or a chicken sandwich, but I can’t imagine going specifically for wings or any bony chicken parts. I’m not exactly sure why. I just don’t associate it with whole parts of animals, and especially not bone-in food. Like Chronos says, if I want fried chicken, I expect to go to a place that does fried chicken, not McD’s. Now, I may be wrong. Like I said, their wings actually were pretty darned good, in my opinion, for that style of fried breaded chicken wing. But we’ll see what the rest of America thinks. I really don’t see it staying as permanent menu item.
“We”? Two Mickey D’s close by, no KFC (or Church’s or Popeye’s) for 50 miles in any direction. “We” don’t have much choice, do we?
What if one of your kids wants a burger and the other wants chicken?
They lost me with the bolded part. I want wings that aren’t breaded, thank you very much. So if I chicken it at McD’s, it will be the nuggets or the sandwich.
I’m sure they’ll survive.
I think that’s the key to this whole thing. McDonalds is trying to win the “arguing family” segment.
Then you get whatever the parents want, and tell the kids that they can eat it or go hungry.
One also occasionally sees an establishment that has two or more fast-food chains combined, though McDonald’s wouldn’t be one of them. The most common would be some combination of KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut/A&W, all of which are owned by the same parent company. I’ve also seen White Castle/Church’s.
You can still buy a Big ‘N’ Tasty in Chinese McDonald’s.
According to Wiki, some places outside of the US just call it a Big Tasty.
Heretics!
I loved the McDLT! I believe that it was the polystyrene PR disaster that did it in and not anything intrinsic to the sandwich.
Where I live we have a joint KFC/A&W.
Indeed. At the St. Petersburg (Russia) MickeyD’s, the firs time I went, they were really insistent about that being what I wanted. No, I do not want a Биг Тэйсти, спасибо very much. I want a Биг Мак! When you’re in Russia, a Биг Мак tastes like home. I’m not sure what a Биг Тэйсти would taste like, because I never had one.
We used to have one not far away. It was cool to get some KFC and a root beer float.
I ate the bones!
Wait, wrong “chicken”…
Well, would you go to McDonald’s for a Morocco Veggie McWrap?
In Germany you can: Behold the wonder of a spinach-dough bread with lettuce, arugula, couscous, cucumber and vegetable-potato cakes plus a herb dressing.
Amateur Barbarian:
Really? That hasn’t been my experience at all.
Here is an article about chicken prices.
