After some truly regrettable SNL tie-ins, this looks awesome.
No it doesn’t.
“I’m more like a three wire guy. There’s a green one. Oh there like a bunch of green.”
Looks awesome.
I can’t decide if I hate it. I think I might. And yet, Will Forte. I’m so torn!
Holy crap, I thought they had given up on SNL skit movies. Did everyone hate the 2000’s so much that we’re just pretending it’s the 90’s again?
Huh. That actually looks pretty good. Color me surprised.
Nearly right: awFUL.
He tried to sell his blood but it’s tainted with heroin
Macgruber!
He’s sleepin on the beach and stealin car stereos
Macgruber!
He’s running out of options!
MACGRUBER!
I laughed at that, I’ll admit it.
But jeez, Val Kilmer is looking a bit puffy, isn’t he?
At least we know what Val has been doing over the years…
Upper decker haw haw haw
I love Will Forte. I don’t care for the MacGruber skit because it’s just done too often, but the trailer made it look at least mildly amusing.
I will totally see this movie,* that I guarantee.
*On DVD.
I have always thought the MacGruber skits were the worst of SNL (and I usually like SNL) so making a movie of it follows in the long line of worst skits = movies (IMO).
But while most of the SNL spin-off movie have been about as good as the sketches that started them- that is to say not good at all- this trailer makes it look like the movie may be worth a viewing*. It seems to be much better done and not quite as over-the-top as the skits.
*on DVD or even later when it is shown on Comedy Central
Would this be the first R-rated SNL spin-off since The Blues Brothers? Having them completely unfettered may be exactly what they need (though I’ll admit, I’m a fan of the skits).
The delivery of those lines was hilarious! I’m sold on turning my brain off for 1.5 hours for this one.
The Ladies Man, which I admit made me laugh much more than it should, was rated R.
That’s what sold me on it as well. Delivery was perfect.
And I’m ok with Val looking older. Jesus, Hollywood needs to let these actors age.
Looking older is okay. Even looking puffier, fatter or balder is okay. The problem with Val Kilmer, IMO, is that he dropped out of public view for so long (at least in movies) that his young, hot, look is what we remember so when we see him older it is “all of a sudden” to us and thus “WOW! He looks bad!” is a normal reaction.
If he had been making movies all along or at least every few years, we would have had a nice transition with his aging like with say…John Travolta or Brad Pitt. Seriously, compare pictures of Brad Pitt from today and then from 20 years ago- huge difference. If the last time you had seen him was 20 years ago then he walked onscreen looking like he does today you’d probably think he looks bad, at least until your mind and eyes have a chance to fully grasp what has happened.
