I’m putting my money on a 19% Fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes. The trailer got its humor from the contrast of idiot McGruber with the Big Budget Blockbuster trailer conventions.
If the movie uses the same device it’s going to get old in five minutes. The lines themselves were pathetic.
I saw the preview last night and thought it looked fantastic, can’t wait to see.
I haven’t seen SNL for decades and had no idea until I read this thread just now that it was from a recurring SNL skit.
He has, you just haven’t seen them because he chose to do (or was only offered) smaller independent films. I haven’t seen them all, but I’ve seen several. He never went away to me.

I stand corrected.
My point remains however that had he been more in the public eye and making mainstream, heavily advertised movies, which he seems to have stopped doing in the 90’s…allowing us (the mainstream movie viewing public) to see his aging/transition a step at a time, then we (in general) would not be as taken aback by his appearance now.
ETA: With the possible exception of Felon which I did see, but really did not notice him as “Val Kilmer” but that got a lot of press…
Oh, you have to see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang if you haven’t yet. It’s great!
