I detested this show the first time around. I cannot stand Helen Hunt. The comment about her face is right on the money. I haven’t see her recently, but back then (and also in that movie with Jack Nicholson) her face was all rubbery. She couldn’t seem to have a normal, relaxed expression–it was all “mugging.” Like a clown. Or one of the Three Stooges.
ETA: research reveals that she was in a serious auto accident in October, so maybe she has had some surgery.
It’s on Amazon Prime now and I’ve watched the first two episodes. As a huge fan of the original run of the show I have to say it’s not quite as good. But it’s still pretty good and I’m enjoying watching and catching up with the characters. Richard Kind’s appearance in the first episode was top notch, and I like his new wife.
The apartment set is ginormous, I can’t help but be distracted when they show a kitchen that is bigger than most entire NYC apartments. At least they have the decency to subtlety comment on it during one show.
I too loved the original. It’s kind of funny that about a week ago I was looking for something to watch when the original series caught my eye on Amazon Prime. I thought what the heck, might be fun to watch again. UGH I could barely get through the first episode. Then a few days later the new series showed up on Amazon. I’ve been watching it. I’ll give it a 7 out of 10. Jamie is way too over the top, but I like Paul. It’s something I can turn on when I don’t want to watch an entire movie or an hour-long show.
