Mad-Men: 6.11 "Favors" (open spoilers)
Betty plans for Sally’s future; Peggy encounters trouble.
It’s the antepenultimate episode of the season. Apparently there will be a 7th & final season; with 14 episodes. I wonder if Joan got the Avon account (& if not what kind of shit she’s in).

Best line so far:
Pete’s mother, “You were a sour little boy, and you’re a sour little man.”

That answers that.

Well that washed away any doubt about Bob.

Yup.

Peggy finally got a cat.

“Degenerates. Capable of anything”
“Hey, now that we’re on the subject, this seems like a great time to make my move…”

Smooth planning there, Bob.

So the truth finally comes out about Bob Benson, and it’s that… he has spectacularly bad taste. I mean of all people at SC & P to be infatuated with?
Sally’s discovery seemed like a very soap opera-ish development, but I had to admit I enjoyed the squirmy, wincing awkwardness of that final dinner scene. Whoa.

How do y’all interpret the look on Bob’s face as he walked away from Pete?

I’m guessing Manolo is giving Pete’s mom oral or hand jobs, but no more.

Words can not express my disappointment that the friggin’ Sylvia story line drags on.

Is there a deal I can make with the Devil to accept a half dozen more drug episodes in exchange for writing Sylvia out of the show?

Ick, first Peggy, then Bob. I can’t believe there were actually two people finding Pete attractive in one episode. It beggars belief.

And, really, was more juicy than Don hooking up again with Mrs. GODpleasegetoffthisshow. Even Sally catching them was ho-hum. It’s like Mad Men is trying to get in on the zombie zeitgeist by coming up with a rotting storyline that just won’t die and is trying to eat my brains.

“Next week on Mad Men” had Pete polishing his gun (not a euphemism) and talking about going hunting.

We all know that this won’t be about Pete going on a murderous rampage. I’m guessing maybe Pete’s gunning for (heh) Ken’s spot with Chevy? Ken complained about the Chevy guys taking him hunting and then firing off their guns near his head.

I laughed at last week’s “Next Week” of Peggy seeing blood and fumbling with her door locks resolved with Peggy having a rat infestation. Best one since some woman asked Betty if she was planning suicide… because she bought that ugly ass reclining sofa.

I expected the “Bob is gay” theory to just be speculation. He seemed to be interested in everybody, and only in a climbing-the-ladder kind of way. Does Joan know? What does she think? She didn’t react well to her roommate. I don’t remember how she interacted with Sal, or if she knew. I did not really see the Bob-likes-Pete storyline developing.

Next week: Pete’s got the hunting rifle!

Quick! Everybody hide all the dogs!

Well, her roommate came on to her. That’s a little different from just knowing it in an academic sense. Especially since that would have been in… 1959? 1960? (wasn’t it S1?)

Second best:
*
Why do you call her that [Mrs. Draper]?

Because she hates it.*

I thought Bob was gay weeks ago. Is it really a surprise?

Not a surprise, just confirmation.

Ted: “You’ve seen how easy flying is…”

He’s sooooo going to die in a plane crash.

Yeah honestly, Bob should be going after Stan, who might be curious on the right night and with enough booze.

But I don’t think Bob is attracted to Pete. I just think he was willing to provide sexual favors to him for his own purposes, like Manolo is doing with Pete’s mom.

That really made no sense. For someone who always knows the right thing to do or say, that was bizarrely stupid. Does he think Pete will just brush that off?
