Has anyone else experienced a horrific passing game in the new Madden? I can’t count how many times I’ve had a guy wide open and Aaron Brooks has thrown terrible passes. I’ve also found it overly difficult to do much on fourth downs, even with inches to go my RB’s get stuffed behind the line. All of this on All Pro mode, a difficulty which I dominated in with Madden 01.
Maybe it’s the team
I’m a Saints fan too, and my Saints are 1-4 so far this season (and 1-3 in the preseason). Of course, it’s not helping that Aaron Brooks got hurt in game three and is out for six weeks.
Having played through 10 games, I’ve pretty much figured the passing game out. I don’t know if they did this in 02, but unlike Madden 2001, passing on balance is a big piece of getting off good passes. I used to be able to be falling back and passing deep without much a problem, but no way in 03. I’m still really upset with how badly the game cheats, though.
I read that the programmers made 4th down conversions much harder to reflect the NFL reality. That sucks, imo. I loved to go for it on 4th down.
Although I don’t play on All-Pro (yeah, I’m a wuss, sue me) QB balence is an important aspect.
I find that just adding 2-3 yards onto your dropback is AMPLE time to get off a decent pass with your average offensive line. Just run a few strides away from the blitzing side if they do in fact blitz.
Question: Do they still use that stoopid Matrix spinny thing on the replays?
Yeah, they have the spinny thing on some replays. They also have this new thing where they have the screen split into three sections to show what’s going on with different players.
BabaBooey I hope you’re not trying to throw on the run. The biggest thing that will affect your passer’s accuracy is whether he has his feet planted. Drop back no more than 7 steps, plant and let it fly. If you have to throw on the run, some qb’s are much better than others. McNabb can throw from just about any crazy position you get him into. If you’ve got Brad Johnson, you’d best drop 1-2-3 and let it go. Period.
I would advise trying another team first. Aaron Brooks is never going to make anyone forget Steve Young, and Deuce is good outside, but he’s not much of a banger.
If you need to go for it on 4th and inches, go Goal Line set, HB Dive to the side of your better run blocking guard. Oh yeah, having Jerome Bettis or Mike Alstott helps. Bettis can run over a train in this year’s game.
