Madeinusa - so cleaver it's sinful, no pun intended.

Netflix: Madeinusa [DVD and streaming] is a movie so cleaver it’s sinful, no pun intended. The plot is based upon the belief, in a remote Peruvian village, that during the days when Jesus was “dead” there was no God and hence nothing was a sin. A good movie anyway. Reviewers say watch it twice. Once for the story and once to take in the setting.

A reviewer with no credentials that I could find says this is entirely a fabrication of the writer and no such beliefs can be found outside of fiction. Do you know if this is indeed a fact?

Bump to see if the weekend crowd has any thoughts on the question in the second paragraph.

I’ve heard of this belief at some point many, many years ago, but cannot Google a source.

How is that name pronounced? I can’t not read it as “Made in USA”

Variety says 'Though the title looks like a play on “Made in USA,” it’s also the teen heroine’s name (quite common in Peru), pronounced “Mah-day-ah-noosa.” ’

Variety is the second place I have found that says “purely fictional” Variety Reviews - Madeinusa - purely fictional so I’m feeling that this must be true.
