There was a very good lead editorial in yesterday’s Failing New York Times on this guy. It expressed sympathy for the difficult time he has had growing up and hoped that getting defeated would allow him to become a better person.
Politics is not where you want to be while you are sorting things out in your life.
I assume he misspelled “genteel”; a Freudian slip, or a dog whistle? The world may never know…

This is not even remotely related to the reason he lost the primary. Whether or not Saturn was rising had a bigger effect than neglecting his district.

I believe that Dark MAGA is similar to the Dark Matter in the universe - nobody can find it, but Dark MAGA apparently accounts for the massive win that Trump allegedly had in the 2020 election.
I cannot for the life of me understand how the guy got elected in the first place; even by Republican standards he was unqualified. Did no one else in his district want the job?
Cawthorn has even lied - quite lavishly - about the accident that paralyzed him. He’s not right in the head.
If shit-talking the GOP establishment was all it took to get “knifed” in your next primary, dozens of GOP house members and Senator Ted Cruz would be out on the streets looking for work.
Cawthorn was taken out by a storm of “establishment” campaign spending and opposition research, but he left himself vulnerable to it. The only reason why he had primary opposition to begin with was because he tried to run in another district, which caused other Republicans to file in NC 11. According to reporting, he had a reputation among his constituents – and most importantly among GOP county and precinct officials – as being difficult to reach and neglectful of their concerns. He only lost to Edwards by 1.5%. If he’d spent more time building relationship with his local party and constituents he could well have weathered the storm.
Sure, he could have shaken some hands and maybe gotten another percent or two. Or he could shut up and not get all the voters to see a video of him face fucking his cousin and gotten thirty.
