I’m actually kind of surprised that kung fu lola is supportive of this Lesbian Until Graduation type publicity stunt. I think it’s offensive and patronizing to real lesbians. It’s using feigned tenderness as a means of gaining attention for themselves and to titillate the public in general, and men in particular. If Ellen or Rupert Everett kissed their partners on the stage, I’d applaud that society has advanced enough that two homosexuals are safe and comfortable kissing in public. However, this is a disgusting exploitation using homosexual affection as a means of getting attention and objectification of lesbians.
I really don’t hope this. It would either mean that my libido short circuited or that I suddenly started liking guys.

Hasn’t the whole “lesbian kisses are sooo taboo” thing been done to death? I mean, was anyone really SHOCKED by this?? Maybe I’m jaded (or maybe I’ve just seen WAAAAAY too much lezbo porn), but watching two girls force an obviously staged “sexy” kiss doesn’t get me off. Britney did not look “into” it at all. Maybe if there was a little more passion involved, OK, then maybe I’d be a little aroused, but there was no sexuality to it at all. It just seemed so forced.
Especially after MTV gave us the whole “Tatu/schoolgirl lezbo scene” during their last award show.

FTR, I didn’t think it was shocking, I just thought it was hot, and I think that was the point.
It was supposed to be hot and fun and surprising (not because it’s two girls kissing, but because of Britney’s image - did you really think you’d ever get to see her kiss another woman?).
I think people (esp. Homebrew) are taking this too seriously. It was all in fun. Lighten up and just enjoy the tingle in your woman-area.
I don’t think anyone’s shocked by this. It was a surprise and was unexpected, but not really shocking, especially considering that it’s Madonna.
Two attractive women kissing is hot. I don’t think anyone who got riled up (myself included) is thinking any deeper than that.

I think the “shocking” part of it was the people involved, not the kissing itself. I mean comon’ Britney Spears and Madonna? The only thing better would’ve been Britney and Christina. The sworn enemies (or so the press would like us to believe) start making out on stage.

Did anyone catch Mary J Blidge’s reaction near the beginning of the number? It was straight “oh hell no, she aint tryin’ to be Madonna!” Considering I had the same reaction in the beginning of the number, it was pretty damn funny.
This just smacks of desperation on Madonna’s part. Really, REALLY, bad Gap commercial + fake kiss = washed-up has-been. The last Styx reunion tour had more dignity than this!
I’ll echo Lenny & Carl by saying that I dig hot lesbian lovin’, but fake shit like this just isn’t a turn-on. At all. (Same deal with the Girls Gone Wild chicks flashing their boobs while making goofy, drunken faces.)
Maybe the three of them should have done Like A Virgin, like how Madonna did it in Truth or Dare, that might have been good.
