Ok, for those of you that have seen the new gap ads with Madonna in them, what the heck is the deal with her stomach. It’s brown. I don’t know why it’s brown or what the deal is. You can still see her belly button, so I don’t think it’s really a shirt or anything. I’m just very confused. Anyone have the insight on what the heck’s going on?

I want to know what the deal with those pants is, namely: why are they so ugly and who do they expect to buy them? Of course, I say that about everything lately.
And why was she on the cover of some magazine wearing the same ugly outfit with the caption “Madonna’s New Look”? So she’s wearing an ugly hat now. Neither new, nor a “look.”
To me it looked like she had panty-hose on under the jeans and we were seeing the control top part.
I guess mesh-under-shirt sounds a little more realistic.

I like the pants Madonna’s wearing in the ad. I was going to pick a pair this afternoon provided there’s no M embroidered on the back pocket.

Her stomach looks all weird in the Ray of Light video too - like flesh, but way more wrinkly.

My wife and I saw this ad and both said, “Who the hell is that old lady prancing around? Oh, shit! Is that Madonna? Christ, how embarrising!”
Who are they trying to reach with these ads? Is Madonna still cool?

People! She is wearing fish-net hose…you can see them if you look at her shoes and, like Breezy said, that is the control-top part you are seeing.
This reminds me of what Lileks wrote when he first heard about these: (paraphrased) “Haven’t they figured out that most people think of Madonna and Gap in the same way they think of David Letterman and gap?” 
You think she looks old? She doesn’t look pre-adolescent like a few performers I could name, but she hardly looks old.
