Any final decision on location?
The Hard Times Cafe in Laurel sounds good to me. They’re a chili place, but they’ve got a Vegetarian Chili and a Veggie burger on the menu.
I’ve never been there - Anita, have you? Is it at all kid-friendly?
It’s kid-acceptable, at least. If there’s a dozen of us, we should be about half the customers in the restaurant. So we won’t have to worry about the atmosphere of the place, since we will be the atmosphere of the place.
The Hard Times Cafe is in the middle of the parking lot for the Laurel Mall on the east side of Route 1 (so you have to be going south on Route 1 to enter the parking lot). And not only is there good food, but there’s a historical connection to that location. The restaurant is about a hundred yards from the spot where Arthur Bremer shot George Wallace in 1972. Indeed, Laurel is full of historic locations. A mile or two north on Route 1 is the motel where one group of September 11th hijackers stayed for some time. This is the group that hijacked the plane from Dulles that crashed into the Pentagon.
Excuse me, it’s the west side of Route 1.
Thanks for the info, Wendell. I wasn’t sure where it was for sure.
Sounds good to me!
I just thought of something - We’re going to voluntarily let Zette eat Chili.
Oh, man.
I’ve been to the Alexandria location. They have good food.
So exactly when is this? Is it the 9th because I might be able to show up if I can get a motorcycle working.
9th. Tuesday evening. Who wants to set a time? We’re flexible, but we’ll have to leave in time for Bug to get to bed at a decent hour (we’re about 1/2 hour or so away).
It’ll take me until 6:30 to get there, with rush-hour traffic being back in full force.
Can’t make it, as it’s during the week, and I’ve got an unskippable 8:00 class the next day.
Robin
I’ve been to the one in Herndon. Yummy
Edward The Head: If you want, I can give you a ride, cuz I’m a-goin’
Tuesday is liable to be bad for me, but I’ll post again if something changes. Like RT, I’d be fighting traffic the entire time as well.
Ginger, it’s about an hour from your house.
I just stopped at the Hard Times Cafe to check if it would be acceptable. The one problem is that they don’t have any big tables. We would be in several booths. Someone might want to call them and ask if they can seat a dozen of us at adjacent booths at 6:30 PM (or whenever).
Further explanation of its location: There are two buildings in the middle of the parking lot. One of them is a bank which is more or less in the center of the lot. The other one, which is half the Hard Times Cafe and half another bank is toward the front of the lot, just south of the big sign for the mall.
Wendell, we moved to Dundalk. We are no longer almost in Delaware (which does not exist).
Oh, O.K. I didn’t realize that.
Pthhhbbbbbbtttttt!
Delaware most certainly does exist! Keep that up, and we’ll take back your Roth IRA funds, and keep them for ourselves.

(p.s.) Can’t make it on the 9th, Zette, but if you’re anywhere north of the canal, I can show you the best Indian restaurant this side of the Atlantic, any evening you’re free.
Do we have a decision about the time for this? Has someone called the restaurant and asked them if they can handle a dozen people at that time?
Table reserved for 12, 6:30 pm, in the name of Cecil.
