I’m thinking of a hike somewhere in the close environs of DC, and tentatively thinking of Saturday 9/20 for a date. Who’s interested?
Oooh, ooh! I wanna go!
But that date sticks in my mind for some reason. I have to figure out why before committing…
Saturday the 20th is fine for me if I don’t have to go too far. I’m off to Baltimore for the Doper Wimmins Lunch the next day.
I know that we should do something new, but Billy Goat Trail was such a blast last time, would the club consider a repeat? It’s a great central location for the DC area MADs.
I’m going to see if I can get info about a hike in DC that I did many years ago. But if I can’t, then the Billy Goat Trail would be a fine backup plan.
It’s Dominic’s birthday that day, so I’ll be watching the ankle-biters instead.
I was just there the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Other than not bringing a camera and it being hotter than hell, it was a great time. I wouldn’t mind going back, so long as we do a different part than last time.
Where is everyone anyway? panache? Emilio Lizardo?
I wonder if we’d get more new people if we didn’t have “MADs” in the subject line? It could be confusing people who have no idea what it means…
I dunno if the ‘MADs’ is helping or hurting us, mike. But at least it’s searchable!
Hmmm…a different DC hike. Would it be in Rock Creek Park? Dumbarton Oaks/Montrose Park? National Arboretum?
Anything close in would be great.
I hope the few area people who don’t already know will catch on to the meaning of MAD, since the appellation has been used here for several years.
I was going to try to locate that other hike this weekend, but I’ve been doing Isabel contingency planning instead. And I think I’ve got a bit more of that to do between now and Thursday.
If someone else wants to take over the planning, be my guest - but even if we don’t get a direct hit, I’m not expecting that hiking conditions will be very good in the DC area on Saturday.
Hmmm… regardless of weather, I may have to pull out for that day. My brother has picked that week to visit from NYC and it’s shaping up to be a hell week. Saturday may be the only day I’ll have any time to see him.
I’m gonna declare this one dead, then. Sorry, Anita.
