Mafia - Game in progress [Edited title]

But look at post 106. Players were added after the “official” player list, so I wanted Story to provide a new one so we were all on the same page.

** Pleo ** OMGUS votes are valid in the sense they are often used by a Town Player that Can’t believe they are being voted on the grounds that the voter claims
How many times have every one of us been voted by someone for what the voter touted as an obvious Scum trait when we were cleaner than angels underwear

Ooh, I hope I’m the bad townie!

I think you’re wrong. There’s zero reason to be “dedicated” on a Day 1 vote.

I won’t get “butthurt” when people decide that the idea sucks and won’t use it anymore. I’m frankly honored folks thought it was good enough to try, and enough of them decided to try it that we’re actually trying it.

Also, since it’s a new idea, it’s good to get people on the same page as to what the idea is, how and why it should work, etc.

You’ll see far less discussion re: the idea itself very shortly. Now that we’ve shaken out the misunderstandings, we should be able to just focus on the game.

All I ask is that folks give it a chance. This is one Day One day phase from one game. Day Ones are usually the least useful. I’d wager the idea if put to work will demonstrate at least some usefulness over our usual Day One behavior. And we’ll go from there.

If the idea sucks we flush it and move on, no harm done.

(That was to Pizza)

Pizza did not invent this concept, it is called playing Mafia.

If people have the freedom to opt out of the plan, what use are self-imposed deadlines? What happens if RL ensues and delays a claim, or if someone suddenly finds themselves the lynch leader when they were not in the lead the last time the checked the game, but oops! the role claim phase has passed? Too bad, Town Doc, you missed your train, but step right this way for a short drop and a sudden stop.

Do you mean to say ‘everyone will have an opinion on each different case’? Because if we are expected to post opinions about each and every other player’s vote, in a multi-vote game, we’re either going to be here forever and people are going to awol out of insanity.

The Plan may have the best of intentions and be based on solid Mafia principles, but I smell a playstyle feud brewing between those who embrace it and those who don’t, and I don’t think such a feud will be good for Town.

Voice your suspicions
Vote your suspicions
Poke holes in other people’s cases/ideas when compelled to do so
Digest feedback from other players and adjust your play when compelled to do so
Try not to fall behind and have attention to detail as much as possible

This is how I intend to play.

Then you make your exception, and the exception is, it’s Day 1.

I’m still going to think it’s scummy if you unvote your nominee in the event of a tie. And I will vote you for it.

Guidelines are guidelines. You go outside the lines as you see fit. I just ask that you justify going outside the lines. Swerving to avoid oncoming car, yes. Because I feel like it, no.

See this right here is a pile of crap vote wrapped up in The Plan, but it is a null tell on wombatt since he’s just trying to stick to The Plan.

I agree
unless someones " pants fall off " there is bupkiss to go on D1

it boils down to guts and slips of same

Ah, but the Plan is just playing mafia, right Cookies?

So, you think his vote is a pile of crap because he’s playing mafia?

Since when have day one votes **not **been pile of crap votes?

It’s a bit odd to be outraged by ordinary mafia behavior, say the plan is ordinary mafia play, and blame the plan for things that exist absent the plan.

It’s like saying things are no different, therefore, it’s different and worse. I blame the plan.

That’s all fair, and should absolutely be part of your determination of me. If it makes sense, I still consider my nomination to be there, just not my vote.

If LightFoot is eventually lynched and flips town, I just hope you hail this moment as my genius play. If its scummy one way, it’s gotta be townie the other, right?

You don’t think it’s even the tiniest bit scummy that he put down a me-too vote only? He’s posting but not contributing his own thoughts and vote.

False dichotomy. It can be scummy both ways.

We have different definitions of OMGUS then, because I make what I consider them to be often against Scum as Town. “Don’t believe him! I’m being framed!” When you don’t have compelling evidence to convince anyone else that is what is going on. I don’t think people should be encouraged to just roll over when they’re in that position. That is when you have to get scrappy. Further, even when it is Town vs Town someone was wrong first, and any chance we have of adjusting course from wrong to not being wrong without relying on a flip to make that adjustment, all the better.

Psssst… It was a joke!

Edit: again, to Pizza.

[del]Klingons[/del] Pizzas do not laugh.

Well said ** ….Cookies **

RE post 166

  • internet froze typing this in anticipation of posting it *
And it will be irrelevant by the time I do

But then again many of my “ insightful” posts are used as coasters so it may of course matter not

Wombat:

No, I do not think Mahaloth is suspicious because he did not toe the line of The Plan wherein it is apparently poo-poo’d to vote for who you think is scum even though someone else already nominated them unless you nominate someone else all in the same post.

The idea that Mahaloth has proven himself to be incapable or unwilling of offering up his own perspective based on one post, even if it has a vote in it that someone else happened to make first, is ludicrous.

And** Pizza **nominated **Red **because he could be a scum buddy and he is bussing him or he could not be, I don’t see the point of a vote/nomination like that. You might as well pick a name out of a hat and then try and defend your vote.

All this editing is setting my teeth on edge, I suppose I will get used to it.

Townie both ways too.
