For stated suspicions and/or votes against Babale due to questions and posts regarding the Barn.

Everything I have read from the mod indicates that there is not a role or mechanic that will provide any perfect information about what goes on with the Barn BUT it is a new mechanic and it is not unreasonable for some people to get confused about it or have questions. Occam’s razor would argue, imho, that confusion and questions about a new mechanic, especially coming from a player without much experience, would be a null tell at worst.

The only scum motivation that could be apply to Babale’s play, if the Barn is indeed uncrackably anonymous, would be to sow confusion/doubt over a mechanic that the scum can’t even manipulate. I think that is considerably less likely than the null tell scenario above, ergo my suspicion has been ping’d by the three I have voted for, whom I suspect of voting opportunistically.

I’m not going to edit twice, but only Stanislaus is actually voting for Babale at this time, so my last sentence should read

"I think that is considerably less likely than the null tell scenario above, ergo my suspicion has been ping’d by the three I have voted for, whom I suspect of voting/smearing opportunistically.

Ditto, I mean it’s great if Pizza is town to let him lead a bit, and I can see the merit in his plan, but it’s just too scripted for my taste. XYZ has to happen on days 1-3 of Day 1, and then we can vote on days 4-5, and make a final decision on day 6…Real life and practicality just doesn’t work like that.

Sometimes there’s new information out there that the whole situation needs to be re-evaluated…

and I agree we’re spending way too much time arguing about Pizza-plan2013, and less time trying to figure out who has said what that is suspcious, whatever D1 suspicions lead us.

Pizza-plan2013 that has a nice ring to it.

You think it’s best that you reveal nothing further than what?

You haven’t revealed *anything *yet, so your use of the word ‘further’ here seems misplaced.

Furthermore, I’ll submit that this is a soft “non-Vanilla” claim, so in effect it’s the same thing you do pretty much every game (except for when you don’t).

It’s not worthy of a vote, because there’s nothing inherently Scummy about this particular habit of yours…though the fact that you make it appear that you aren’t claiming, when you actually are, does put me off a bit.

That is not the point of **Stanislaus’ **original case against Babale. This is the important part (snipped and bolded):

That’s what I find suspicious - not the misunderstanding about the Barn itself, it was **Babale’s **response to it.

I revealed exactly what you quoted.

No comment, except don’t confuse what others have said about my statement with what I’ve said.

Oh FFS

** Pleo ** are you going to continue being “ that guy” until we can’t stand it and lynch you?-----Again-----

That’s all I was driving at, really.

I’m playing the way I think is best given my role.

If you think I’m scum, tell us why you think so and vote for me.

But players who want to enforce their own particular mores about how to play mafia need to reread their win condition.

OK - to try to drive things towards a more data-driven conversation, let me ask another newbie question:

What (do you all think) is more likely at this point?

  1. The people who haven’t commented yet are more likely scum who are lurking and avoiding putting themselves out there (after all, the only people who have been voted for are also people who have been posting).
  2. The people who haven’t commented are more likely townies, and don’t have any real desire to camouflage themselves by being active and helpful townies.

Is lurking on Day 1 an inherently scummy (scummish?) behavior?

[OOG]First and foremost, USCDiver, best of luck to you and I hope all goes well.[/OOG]

Yep, 'cause I like reading Mafia posts more than writing them, especially in early Days (and days). So much of this goes over my head, and now that we’re apparently adding a whole new mechanic – and here I thought this was gonna be a nice vanilla game with fun color! – I need to absorb what folks say rather than add drivel that will be useless and unhelpful. And having played either two or three games with me, Guiri should know that I’m not a big speaker until things get whittled down a bit. But he plays way more games than I do so he probably just doesn’t remember my style, such as it is.

So, should I waste time with an OMGUS vote? I’d rather not. Trouble is, I get no scum reading from anyone now, except from Guiri (but that’s pure OMGUS), and maybe from pizza, but he always gives me scum vibes because he’s so darn take-chargey. That instinctively rubs me the wrong way. But it’s precisely that instinct that led me to erroneously think him scum before.

OTOH, he left me off the players list, which is odd. He certainly knows who I am, God knows, after we spent a whole game in intimate connection with one another (with him as mod and I as Big Bad), and Guiri mentioned me not once, but twice (and that’s another thing, why is Guiri so fixated on me?).

So as long as we’re throwing stuff on walls to see what sticks, I’ll be suicidal and

vote pizza

because like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, I don’t like to be ignored by someone with whom I’ve had a previously close, if brief, relationship.

Thank Og we aren’t playing on idlemafia, or I’d fear for the safety of the bunny…

  1. It’s Day one and some may not have checked in to see if the game started yet

keep in mind we are playing with the whole planet and they have different time zones

AND we were told the Day would start on a Saturday to begin with

** choie **
Your statement sounds like you wait til after the game ‘ gets going’ before you join in

How will the game ‘ get going’ if we all wait for someone else

Get your but in the game Day one- stir play talk

Ok, this one-thread thing is driving me slightly nuts. How do you guys keep track what you’ve read and what you haven’t?

You and Stanislaus seem to see more in that post than I do. If someone takes the time to respond individually to people and explain themselves, that is somehow deflective and scummy? If someone really wanted to deflect attention away from something, repeating it three different ways seems like it would just make the hole deeper.

Good grief, could this post be more wishy-washy while trying to agree with me? He "Ditto"s my post that that the plan sucks but discussion about it is helpful. But if Pizza is town (a big if) let him lead, but he doesn’t like the plan much either and we should stop talking about it

My point still stands. This is early in a looooooong Day and Day 1 to boot. There typically isn’t much to discuss at this point aside from game play strategy and interesting mechanisms. Later Today, if we are lucky, we will have actual evidence with which to find Scum but we have to talk about something first.

I appreciate your effort to generate discussion about a different topic (ie, lurkers). My opinion is that lurking is a null tell. Timid Townies do it when they don’t know what to say, can’t keep up or get caught up in real life. Scum do it to avoid fucking up, but that strategy is also fraud with peril.

That’s talent, Diver. Even your typos are somehow still accurate.

Which typo?
