In the off chance you’re quoting me because you’d like a response, I am currently passing no judgement on your lack of votes or nominations. I reserve the right to pass judgement in the future.
And I think you are silly. I certainly have a better chance of voting for scum if voting for 8 than for 1. Hell I’m guaranteed to vote scum if I vote 26 times.
Your implication that a more complex voting record somehow supplies a place to hide. I would argue that while it does make voting analysis more complicated, it is still easier to analyze a complex voting record than sorting through a myriad of nuanced phrasing, confusing partial accusations, and out right bullshit. The voting record stands firm (either you voted for someone or you didn’t). There’s no smudging or smearing or dancing going on. You pull the gun out and you pull the trigger. Period. And if you try to un-pull the trigger, then you’ve got to account for that too.
Furthermore, you seem to voting me on the pretense that my votes will be somehow meaningless. However, you seem to have skipped over pizza’s nomination of me, which is the very definition of meaningless (No defensible reason given, other than I think he’s got a crush on me). This is two strikes for you. And that’s enough for an early day nomination.
Lastly, I see your play as what I think of as the “antagonizing defense”. This sort of play is interesting to me because you are not pushing an alternative directly, only saying what you think is wrong. This allows you to participate in discussion while simultaneously commits you to nothing. It’s beige behavior, that’s framed with jibes to look more colorful.

I also nominate him, since the pizza plan has some flaws, but at the same time the benefits may outweigh the flaws, and it seems to be more interesting than the usual day 1 strategy rehash.
Meh, I just caught all of that “I’m a newbie stuff” you guys cited me posting earlier. Not much substance yet… in my defense, I guess I have none just trying to get a feel for the game. However I still think ortho is a pretty cool guy.
On the pizzaguy scale of scumminess, you currently rate a 1/10. Enough to be voted day one because, in all honesty, the midichlorians told me to. If this were poker I’d call this my ante. You’ll know when I place a solid wager.
I have to agree with Dizzy that there hasn’t been a lot of talking about the nominees but then most of the nominations were drawn out of a hat, pancakes as a reason? Really? Even if it was a vote to follow Pizza’s plan it is such a non reason that it is truly laughable.
Vote Chucara
For a vote that can never be accountable and yet shows up on the voting record.

For the same sort of vote against Red, even a teenie, tiny reason is better than no reason at all. How are the players that you voted for supposed to defend themselves against a vote like that?
(**wombat **points out that this bears no resemblance whatsoever to my reason for voting Babale)
But that doesn’t seem to affect your vote.
So - are you voting for me because you think my case is that **Babale **shouldn’t have been confused about the Barn? Or are you voting for me because “I see more in that post than you do”? Given that the first isn’t true, what luck that you should also find my real reasons for voting Babale scummy. Your vote for me seems to be independent of whatever reasoning you’re giving at any given time.
Let’s say I vote to lynch Town 3 days running. Looks bad, right? But I can still say, “I also voted for A, B, C, D and E - they’re still alive, so for all you know they’re (mostly) scum and I’ve got an overall pro-Town voting record. It’s not my fault that other people disagreed with those cases and voted Town instead. Blame them, not me.”
That might be true, it might not. It might be true because I’m Town who has found Scum, or because I’m Scum who has been careful to mix up his voting history. You can’t tell until more of A-E flip. But if you’re holding me to account for only half my votes, and ignoring the rest, what’s the point?
If a the vote count is 5-4 between A and B, and I come in and vote for A and B to make it 6-5, it makes no difference at all. No one is closer to being lynched than they already were. I have not made it more likely that either one is lynched. Voting is about declaring a preference, and when votes are close, seeing people’s preference between leader and runner-up is what gives us information. Letting people vote without stating a preference takes away a vital Town tool.
I like multi-voting as a tool for getting suspicions on record and holding people’s feet to the fire. I don’t like it as a way for recording lynch preferences.
I still don’t see what that’s got to do with placing a vote. Sure, if you want to metagame and notice a marked difference in a player’s gamestyle, you can use your knowledge to vote them but that’s sort of rare and rather limits the voting options for new players and players from other boards.
Check out my vote again, I didn’t vote you for not confirming. Anyway, ValSalva did confirm, I just didn’t remember seeing any of her posts when looking through the player list to see who JohhnyBravo may have been referring to when he asked about lurkers.
Right back at ya, scum.
Scum don’t have a monopoly on anti-town behaviour - just look at lurking, ending the Day without a vote, reason-less votes, etc. I agree that making sense of a vote record is more complex when someone places multiple votes but the goal is to lynch scum, not earn town cred.
Yeah, voting noobs for acting like noobs?
Why can he not be held accountable for the vote?
Well it pushed both A and B further into the lead over C, D, E and F. If I really am happy to see either of them lynched, that makes sense. If it then turns out that B or C was scum and A was Town, I’ll expect to have my motivation questioned. If B ends up being lynched due to a last minute vote switch, I’ll have less claim to town cred.
jesus h. shit, I forgot how quickly these games get out of hand if I’m not reading the thread every 15 minutes. I’ve got an hour, hopefully it’s enough to absorb all of this…
I’ll get to your first response to me when I have more time, but I have to wonder what this is all about. There are only three ways I can figure to parse what you said:
On 5-8 separate Days we’ll vote for a person until someone flips scum. Since this is the basic definition of the game of Mafia, I can’t believe this is the correct interpretation.
On one Day, we can vote, one at a time, for 5 to 8 people until someone says “BLARG YOU’VE GOT ME. I’M SCUM!!! CURSES!”
You’re advocating for up to 8 simultaneous votes on people. This is my interpretation of what you said and the only logical way I can parse your words. So how in the hell is this “changing the meaning” of your intention? What did you mean to say?
Then, let me clarify for you: In no where in my post did I ever say voting up to 8 times would net all scum and third parties, only one. Do you see the difference yet?
