Mafia - Game in progress [Edited title]

Meeko, I wish you’d post more. I’ve read and heard so many games involving you that it seems a real shame not to get my chance to play with a veritable celebrity. You and that chap peeker have made many an archived game interesting to read, in… many ways… and I hoped to be able to see you strut your stuff “live,” so to speak.

And on edit, I take it back. Feel free to stay silent!! Yeesh. Is it Thursday yet please?

Normally yes, but from what I’ve seen, when a wagon forms against someone for bizarre reasons such as these (IMHO), which feel like scum doing their level best to railroad you, or town just being dumb and paranoid, you can either a) argue and win maybe one or two people over at best, live to fight on and on and on and on and on as the same determined Scum try to foment dissent and distraction using you as their tool, or b) just stand in front of it and get it over with so you no longer waste Town’s time through subsequent (and more vital) rounds.

I saw pizza get the same treatment (and I was guilty of being distracted by it too), and at least it was on the first day where a mislynch isn’t so bad. 2nd Day mislynch isn’t horrible either, but dragging this out and wasting Town’s investigating skills on me is just pointless.

I may have learned very very little in my brief Mafia experience, but I do remember the first thing anyone taught me: any individual’s death isn’t a loss for Town, nor is a Townie’s death a loss for that Townie. I win if my fellow Townies win. And I do like winning. So if getting me out of the way so the good guys can focus elsewhere–including on the people who are most determined to distract you by twisting everything I’m saying like a pretzel (or went after me like a bull out of a gate on Day 1, ahem)–then I’m okay with that.

I’m not trying to be a martyr here. Truth is, it’s not fun to have everything, from silly punctuation jokes to genuine attempts to get things that I saw as inconsistencies clarified to self-admission of my weaknesses as a player edited to add: to my not particularly original mention of a well-known poet, turned against me. I’m neither seen as an asset to Town, nor do I think I really am. But perhaps my absence might be.

If nothing else, as I said, it’ll give Town more information, especially in the form of asking “cui bono?” when it comes to those who pushed me to this point.

Even I know that there are a few things wrong with that last paragraph! The first sentence is true (in hindsight… or not, depending on if you’re Town or Scum). The second sentence is absolutely not provable at this point. And that being so, the third sentence is basically not applicable.

Speaking for myself, I’m not voting you because of your own votes. I’m voting because of others’ votes. I think there’s a non-zero possibility that pizza may have been railroaded partly to save you.

Honestly I’m voting you not so much to see you swing, but to see how others react.

You sound like me. If you’re truly Town, Scum doesn’t know you’re vanilla.

But needless to say, I hear you on vendettas. :dubious:

I’ll have to read the posts from Yesterday again some time, but I don’t think one or two posts count as a vendetta, and I don’t remember all that many more from TexCat concerning you.

It actually astounds me that people are voting for Choie, sure, she could be scum. Guiri voted for her for some whack job thought, oh yes, she hadn’t posted?? What the hell? Well me , Choie and Tex are all scum cos choie didn’t post. That makes sense doesn’t it. No way in hell we would have a scum board, never!! What are you all thinking, seriously, if we were all scum together we would talk on the scum boards and not even make the slightest note to each other on this board. Oh well, if you think us women are that thick then…

**Vote Guiri **

just a heads up - one of our developers quit, so I’m going to have less spare time than usual for the next few weeks while we triage projects and find a replacement; it shouldn’t be so bad that I’ll need a sub, but my usual pattern of ‘read several times, post once daily’ may drop to just ‘once daily’

that said, I have several boxes of girl scout cookies, a coke, and some free time - commence with the catching up!

(ETA: anyone know of any good web developers looking for work in Georgia?)

Day 2 votecounts wef post 823.

Huh? I don’t think I ever said that I was voting you for defending Pizza. Although, now that you mention it, the only way you could be sure that Pizza was town was if you were scum. And your defense of Pizza could have been a form of cuddling.

What I did say was that you were under quite a bit of suspicion yesterDay, and I didn’t understand why you should not be under the same suspicion toDay.

Scum may not know that he’s vanilla, but if he’s not part of their team then it’s a good assumption. I don’t think he would lie as Town about being vanilla. He would lie as scum or as the SK.

Diggit: have you ever been a mason before? your case for an early claim met only with disagreement and it was suggested that, all things being equal, masons provide more value when claiming later rather than earlier - is there something about your role in this specific game setup that provides enough immediate value to offset the gain in waiting?

someone asked about some of us not repeat-voting Chucara; I can only speak for myself, but my reason for voting Chucara was good enough for a Day 1 vote, but not for a Day 2 vote on it’s own. I haven’t had a chance to review his/her activity since then (has there been any?) to see if anything else pings me.

votes on choie:

DiggitCamara: “you pay too much attention to grammar”
Stanislaus: “you talk a alot, about the wrong things, and seem to know it”
Enderw24: “ya, what he said”
Mahaloth: “you don’t want to get lynched and you’re sulking about it. oh and you’ve been scum before!”
USCDiver: “you suck at reading, you’re obsessed, and you voted yourself”
Meeko: “I’M MEEKO!”

these would be weak votes on Day 1, guys…

I have been known to do some Joomla! And I’d do raw HTML if I was drunk enough…

you’ve got your ‘with’ in the wrong spot

also, an OMGUS vote from you - colour me shocked.

I’m not sure sure how I would escape your given “rationale” for voting, even in the end game, if the “rationale” holds.

legacy sites aside, we’re an all-WP dev shop; if you have experience developing themes and plugins that make use of custom post types/taxonomies, widgets, shortcodes and the various APIs, hit me with a PM

Never got into Wordpress. For the best, I’ve got a two year evaluation next week where I am. Cashier at Publix, but then again Fubbs, you perhaps are among the few that would understand why that’s a good get, considering.

Choie has been scum before? I didn’t know that and wouldn’t have said it. Please don’t misrepresent my posts.

I haven’t changed my mind about Chuc – I just have not been able to play til now

my original vote/”case” on ** Chucara ** posted above

I still feel that is a reason to invite a player to dance

The subsequent lynch of a Townie/ vs/ Chuc

gives me a bit more of a reason to

** Vote Chucara **

Catching up

I know that I volunteered to answer any questions about my role but this post in particular seems very scummy to me. Still, I’ll answer: I think that in most cases an early reveal of a Masonic group is better for Town than a later one. In some cases of course it would be catastrophic (a pair of Lovers springs to mind, for instance).
And that’s all the reason I need; I’d prefer to leave prior games out of this.

Defending a player? Why wouldn’t you leave that to themselves? Or do you have some additional information about choie? Seems very scummy to me.

Vote fubbleskag

I even asked you about defending Pizza
As Town you would have NO idea if he was Town at that point.

And the way you worded it - you never bothered to clarify - that I saw

I’m just going to throw out an:

Unvote: Diggit

I just got home from work and I’m too tired to parse anything other than Dig’s mason claim. It doesn’t look like it’s counter claimed, so I’m backing off of that tree for now.

OK,the crucial point here is that I agree with you: I don’t see a scum motivation for Babale to sew confusion about the barn mechanic. I said as much, in fact. The reason I voted was nothing to do with the Barn posts, and everything to do with the (IMO) excessive response to criticism of the Barn posts - criticism that didn’t always rise to the level of a vote, at that. It struck me as Scum fear at being under scrutiny. That’s my case - if your going to vote for me, base your vote on that, at least.

I don’t think it is a bad policy. At the end of Day 1, I was most suspicious of Babale. To pretend that at the beginning of Day 2 that suspicion has been wiped completely clean is nonsense. Pizza’s reveal didn’t affect my case; nor did Pleo’s or Val Salva’s. There’s been no new info about Babale, one way or another - so why should my suspicions change?

If anything, people who ignore their previous suspicions and just move on to new pastures the next Day are the ones who are - at best - following a bad policy.

By that logic, Pizza would also be scum. There is a huge difference between knowing someone is town, and having a qualified guess that someone is town.

I wasn’t sure about him - which is also why I voted him in the end, but I (correctly) assumed by his actions that he was town, and vanilla. He did the same (correctly) with me.

I can understand if you suspect me of PIS, but why would scum Chucara go through the trouble of defending a townie. I really don’t see what possible scum motivation there could be - unless you think I would take that huge a risk in order to possibly lynch a power role over a redshirt.
